Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu

It wasn't long ago that some on here were questioning (and some for a decade.....) what Pelly brought to our team, our club, to US. Well we saw it last night - his little cameo, playing with a smile on his face, doing for Cambridge exactly what he did for us; lifting everyone around him.
He (and Hylton and Berry) were our heartbeat. Whoever decided that Pelly should be excluded then let him leave should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. I imagine that our changing room and our training sessions are very downbeat now. Pelly was part of average ability squads bought together by his personality, look how we shot up the leagues with him, and how far we've fallen since his exclusion.
Man, I miss him.

I wonder if Edwards had something against him?
He clearly wasn’t gonna be first choice in the Prem but Pelly seemed to fall out of favour last season.
Always thought we could have done better in the Championship with him involved.
In my opinion Edward's had it in for Pelly from the first game in Premier League.
I think he put him on as sub and he fucked up for their 4th goal. That goal was analysed on MOD and Edwards was embarrassed by it.
He didn't get a look in after that really. Put him on as sub in the championship almost to appease the masses and couldn't wait to push him out again even though he made a difference.
Too much emphasis is placed on technical ability and stats in the modern game. Mindset is just as important and Pelly along with all NJs squads had it.
Edwards very media friendly but I got the impression that he was a bit of a flimsy pre-Madonna in reality. He definitely had his favourites and I firmly believe he was the catalyst for all the jaded negativity that we’re trying to deal with now.
Pelly is where he belongs, League 2. Only dead fish swim with the tide.

Pelly was frustrating player to watch at times and others he was class. But even he knew if he had a shite game and was dropped that when he came on gave everything to the team

100%. Recruitment has been a total embarrassment. If that doesn’t change, it’s irrelevant who the new manager is.

Yep. The idea that Saville, Walsh, Fanne or Naismith are better than him is farcical.
It's why I was skeptical about Bloomfield from the beginning. He clearly couldn't tolerate the strength of Pelly's personality (and who knows, maybe Lockyer too). Weak, small-time Wycombe culture infected and took over the club.
It was clearly Edwards decision to let him go. Bloomfield probably went along with that. Edwards achieved the unthinkingable, by getting us promoted, but he also was the instigator in ripping the heart and soul out of the club, and not replacing it.
Pelly left on transfer deadline day, just short of a month after Edwards left. Edwards repeatedly said how much he "loved" Pelly. It was Bloomfield who booted him out.
Seeing him last night was like bumping into that old girlfriend who was the one that got away (don’t mean that in a hostage sense!) I never ever understood the negativity around him, it was always clear he was the heartbeat and our results when he played speak volumes. Very much missed, and seeing his smile and energy last night was bittersweet, would take him, Sonny and Berry back in a heartbeat.
Agree with that Barnhatter we would have a hell of a L1 team. Not sure that some of them would be up to standard if we got promoted back to the Championship. But we would definitely be a much happier team.
