    Fingers crossed

We get someone on board by the weekend and they have a week to work together.

Players do not get poor overnight.

New manager needs to shield the players from what is wrong.

We are still in touching distance of promotion, despite what has happened.

Whilst it’s hard not to get emotive about where we find ourselves, you are right.

Tough not to think this season will be a transitional season at best given culture change is hard and likely to take time to instil the right behaviours and get rid of the bad apples.

We’ll need someone who commands respect, not afraid to take tough decisions and actually wants the job.

Given the clearout this summer, ARE there any bad apples left in the squad? (Mengi at least appears to be trying again, imo.)

Good post. We’ve seen players can and currently are collectively poor overnight, but I take your point!
I think everyone bar, so far, Yates and Wells have shown flashes of why we signed them. And we know they’re capable in theory too.
For all that our recruitment team are getting slated, they weren’t deliberately signing bad players.
I think it’s a big if without substantial oversight change, but as that seems unlikely to happen, let’s hope the board appoint a manager who is able to restore an us against the world mentality and find a team of 11 Pellys within the squad.

“Recruitment team were not actively signing bad players “ But what they did sign was not an improvement. Yet.
What happened is that they signed old injured players into a demoralised squad. And what we really needed was a here and now player. Someone who is ready to play and get stuck in. Signing players and adding them to our injury list is madness. We need players now. Some of the young players will become good but they need some senior players with wise heads. And the senior players need players around them that are full of energy hunger passion and speed. They need the young players to do the running. But what we are currently doing is adding fuel to the fire. Really it makes no sense. Old and injured players in to what we currently have. You can’t gamble like this.

Going to take a lot longer than a week to sort this out
If you remember when Jones first took over it wasn’t really until the following season things started to take shape.

Look at Man U - spent billions and had some of the best managers in the world but still not back amongst the elite. The analogy being that once you are off the success train it is hard to get back on

Staying in League 1 will do. We mustn't drop again.
