Board communication

Has to come now.
Shea has come out and been honest that things are broken. Something has/is going on that is deeply affecting the culture of the club.
We need a reset and a new direction. Desperate for some leadership and strategy at the highest level in the club.
There was comms last season about lessons learned etc. we’ve then seen a complete repeat of the same - manager issues and poor recruitment.
We saw plenty of presence and communication when things were going well. Now we need leadership and a ln understanding of what direction we are going in. What is our strategy? Who are we as a club now? What specifically is being done to stop the rot?
Plus that stuff fromm Shea was something above and beyond the usual clichés and platitudes players and managers usually come up with when the football is shite
Shea has always been different to the average footballer. See when he said “fucking hell” on co commentary last season.
He was basically saying last night was awful, he doesn’t know why they’re lacking in confidence and it’s not good enough. But I do not think he’s saying the club is rotten, as people keep insisting .
Losing becomes a habit (as a certain very handsome poster said when we were happy losing most weeks in the Prem), and it's become a very hard habit for us to shake.
The right manager will be able to turn it around.
If Sweet goes then Power Court is at risk, and that is more important than this season or last or next.
What do you think they should say though? I for one wouldn't believe a word that comes out of Sweets mouth. I honestly don't see where we go from here.
I have listened and am going to step back from all football related issues and hand over to an expert so I can concentrate fully on implementing Power Court would be a great starting position
It’ll be the usual talking in riddles if Sweet gives an interview. Things will be hinted at, blame will be shifted, a few meaningless phrases.
It might not be much of a consolation now, but at least we will have Power Court as a long term benefit from being in the PL. as without that we’d have totally fcuked that golden opportunity. Yes we may have spent more money on players without PC but can anyone honestly say we’d have spent it well.
It’s a huge reset that’s needed. If we are in the championship (just in it, not established or pushing for promotion) by the time PC opens I would take that now. Sounds very unambitious but that’s where we are.
I expect to comfortably beat Mansfield “if” we appoint the right person. That person should be the polar opposite of wha we have.
Let’s hope we have a couple more players back. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Are you really that blind or dense? Changing just the Manager is like rearranging the chairs on the Titanic. If that is the only change made we will be relegated come May
You’ve had it in for the board for ages and nothing but sweet going will pacify you. But to answer your point…
Yes, the right manager changes the football culture. JS did it. NJ did it twice. Out continual success over the 9 years was whilst GS was CEO and was heavily involved in PC. Just because there weren’t spades in the ground doesn’t mean he wasn’t as heavily involved in that side of things.
And your second point, post Mick, the board appointed still, NJ, NJ again (which wasn’t an easy decision and could’ve backfired spectacularly) and Rob Edward’s. Then you have GJ and MB who were bad appointments, plus the conference mangers. But that’s almost a 50% success rate. Which the majority of EFL clubs would envy.
I know boards dont tend to be very vocal and crouch in the background it would be good to hear from them, occasionally. Especially when some leadership is required
There is no scrutiny of them either. I'm not sure they're doing their jobs properly at the moment
Incredible really. Everything was working fine... until it suddenly wasn't. Got to be reasons for that and I have to assume problems have been storing up
The Ratner moment from 2020 (and how they treated some other fans) was the start of the downfall for the club in my eyes. Since that point, it's been all downhill. Too many people think that the only way to support the club is to glibly follow everything 2020 says and does. I don't think that's the right way – you can be critical of them and thankful at the same time; the two are not mutually exclusive. In fact, the lack of criticism is what's also destroying the club. We seem to be operating without any thoughts or plans, no sense or reasoning to our moves and purchases. At the rate we're spending the Premier League bounty, it will soon be gone – then what? A lot of you like to live in the past; here's one for you: Would Kevin Catlin be as happy and forgiving of the last few seasons as too many so close to 2020 seem to be? I remember the meetings at the time and speaking to him at many LL do's, so you know the answer to that question.
I struggle to be critical of anything during the conference years. We were probably there for a season or 2 too long but the club was still recovering from a coma and that is important context
2020 had done auperbly to save the club from near death...it was only beginning to walk again
