The accounts over the next few years

Are going to make really interesting reading.
I think we’ll then see the true state of this pickle.
This phase of recruitment that we’ve done - I’d love to know the true cost of the transfers and wages, compared to teams in this league (that we seem a million miles behind)
Whilst the amazing job the recruitment team have done in the window was given this huge praise in the programme notes, it’s looking really grim again in reality.
The money that had been wasted in the last few years is absolutely frightening. The board have to be livid with the executive and management, surely?!
I would say this season, our budget, purely because of the legacy of PL wages for certain players, is probably at least 8-9x what Stevenage's is. That is brutally embarressing. I'd expect we'd have a £30M budget, including transfer fees. But that is still profitable considering the income. The way it is being used is absolutely terrible.
There's defintely a transfer surplus, but I agree it will make interesting reading. CEO's wages and bonuses will also be interesting.
We have wasted an incredible amount of money in wages, signing on and transfer fees on injured, overweight, uninterested journeymen and average joes. We plant more trees than you
I’m worried that the board don’t have the necessary credentials and counsel to get us out of this. Have no doubt they are committed and passionate fans who have probably dedicated their lives to the cause, but the lack of football knowledge at board and CEO level is becoming glaringly obvious.
Confident they can deliver a stadium when you look at their backgrounds, but not redressing this footballing collapse. They need to pluck someone (even if on consultancy) from the likes of Bournemouth, Brighton or Brentford to understand how they have developed. They also need to appoint a Director of Football (or similar) like all those teams have at some point along the way!!!
I think it depends what the Boards strategy really is. They are of course going to say they are aiming for playoffs minimum but top two is the aspiration, because the fans will expect nothing else. An alternative (unspoken) strategy would be to stabilise in league 1 and retain cash to cover PC risks and the losses until it’s built, and at that time spend the money, a promotion the season before PC is available would mean going into the new ground on a high. Frankly looking at the players we signed (and I thought this before the season started) it looks like option 2
I have suggested Chris Hughton numerous times as some with the credentials to be the DoF.
His track record at Brighton would make him an obvious candidate, rebuilding the playing side with a view to a new stadium on the horizon - exactly the same position we are now in.
I was reading a few interviews with Dan Ashworth from his time at Brighton last night about the role of a DoF / technical director and how important it is to the culture and direction of the club.
We're deluded as a club if we don't feel like we need someone in that role right now, knitting all the different aspects together.
