Lamine Fanne

What’s going on there? Not sure if he’s been injured or ‘injured’. It feels like the latter after all those rumours of a transfer to Italy.
His physique is that of a powerhouse modern footballer but I haven’t seen anything in games yet that screams he can do it at a higher level. Maybe he’s being played out of position or is yet to adjust to English football? For me, he’s the enigma in the squad who could yet drive our promotion charge. Bloomfield said pointedly said ‘attitude is crucial’ at the end of the last interview. He’s sending Fanne a message in this regard by bringing him on as sub against Barnet. Sort yourself out!

Reading between the lines I think there was interest in him from abroad. He has huge potential and I think he will be some player. He will learn a lot from the older players we have bought in especially Seville who he will probably replace in the holding role not too far in the future. The journey leads you to the answers..

He looks an absolute baller to me, but clearly a CDM. Although he took his goals well at Borehamwood.
He can’t be being left out of squads on ability, so there must have been interest/want away.
Hopefully he can get his head down now, he’d be a massive asset if so.

Or injury?

When he played in Sweden he was voted young player of the year. AIK Solna are a club that has produced a lot of talented youngsters. Isak came throughout their system. He played a more central midfield role, breaking up the play and creating chances. At Luton we’ve played him further forward. He didn’t feature much last year because MB wanted more experience for our relegation battle. No doubt he has the potential but not sure if MB knows where to play him to be honest.

It's interesting that both RE and MB have played him in a more advanced role to where he played in Sweden. He must have showed something during training to provoke this thinking.
I think Yaya Toure was a defensive midfielder at Barca and became much more attacking at Citeh.

He’s not the finished article but I do think he can turn into an 8 or 10 rather than a 6 in time.
He still doesn’t need to be added in the 22 man squad.

To me a 6 should be a centre half, not a midfielder!

I was surprised he was only a substitute on Tuesday. That said, when he came on he certainly “put himself about” so no lack of commitment. Hope he gets a run and we see the best of him

Play him in front of the back 4 (with Saville), like every other club he's played at played him successfully will help?

I'm more baffled about Mengi. Is he injured? If so, how much longer is he out? If not, why didn't he get minutes against Barnet? Sulking?

He got injured in a pre season friendly. Looked bad and he got stretchered off, but scans revealed damage was better than feared. He's back in light training "on the grass" as per regular updates from Bloomfield and images on social media

When he went off at Southend, I didn't expect to see him play this side of Christmas*. Diabolical tackle - should have been a red card.
*not saying that we will but...

Don't do social media so wouldn't have a clue
Don't listen to many interviews either. The post-match ones with MB, yes, but that's about it

I know they are not deemed worth listening to by some on here but Bloomfield does give updates about injuries in the pre-match press conferences. I actually think they are quite reasonable these days even if they don't ask all the questions we might like them to.

I like Bloomfield but I've never been one for pre-match press conferences no matter who the manager is
'Tough game', 'we have to be on it', 'we'll be prepared', 'need the fans to get behind us'
Name your cliche. Very rarely much more than that but if injury updates are part of them perhaps I should start paying more attention

Oh yes don't get me wrong, you'll get all that but although I'm sure you'll be part frustrated by the cliches because they are there in spades, Bloomfield does speak okay and does normally run through the status on injuries but obviously can't normally give precise timescales.

Alternatively, he has actually been injured and we gave him a few minutes off the bench to help build his fitness back up."Never too high, never too low"
