Up front we have strikers who haven’t scored a goal between them in our first 5 league games.

Unusual yes. But yesterday was a freak show of brilliance by their keeper. Albeit the best saves weren`t from strikers.
Up until yesterday the strikers weren't getting enough service to score. Shift to 2 up front gave us more of a threat. Nordas looks ungainly but a handful. A modern day Heskey in a way. Not a goal threat but a good foil to play off.
Creatinf chances now is a good thing though

You can’t score the goals you need to gain promotion with a striker who doesn’t have a goal threat.
If MB doesn’t agree with this we may as well give up now.
Last season MB worked with a centre forward who became L1 player of the season, you think he can be satisfied with what Nordas offers?
I would loan Nordas out, he could come good but we don’t have the time to wait for that.

I don't get why so many people are so anxious to write him off. If you look at the improvement he has shown then it's too early to be making pronouncements like that.

Agreed. The rate of improvement in Nordas’ last two games has been significant. He offers something different to our other strikers. If we did send him on loan, there’d only be “Why did we loan him out?” moans when he started scoring.

This isn’t a Dowie or Enoch situation when we can wait and develop in situ.
For a team who needs promotion we need a finished product which for the investment seems a justified expectation.

No, if he carries on like this it won't be long before he's a good striker for us.
No idea if that will happen but you are judging too soon. If we had taken this kind of attitude Brian Stein would probably have never played more than a handful of games with us. Because believe me when he first played his finishing, which later became so clinical, was shall we just say erratic, his balance, well let's just say he looked like Bambi on Ice at times.

Like the Dowie signing, when Stein joined we had the luxury of time to allow him to develop.
He didn’t have a ridiculously high price tag and he wasn’t expected to score the goals to get us promoted.
So Stein and Dowie are fair comparisons player wise but not situation wise.
It’s not Nordas’s fault we paid as much as we did but it means expectations are that much higher.

My expectations of Nordas went along time ago. However, i Love his attitude and can see he tries his best. He's almost got an Ian Roper type cult following now. Alot of us are just willing him to do well and get that first goal. He certainly won't get 20 this season but I reckon he'll make a difference for us as the season progresses.

Then start dealing with reality rather than your expectations. The club are being patient with him and it's starting to look as if it might just pay off.

Again, agreed. Transfer Woodrow out to free up the striker space. If Nordas continues to improve at his current rate, he’ll be scoring efficiently within the next month, and is already contributing to the team’s link-up play.

I never suggested we sell but we need a better #9 at this stage regardless of whether we keep or not.
Personally I would loan out until January.

My point is re squad space: Woodrow is dead air for the 22, Nordas isn’t, and makes enough of a different option to keep.
