    Work permits and transfers

Posted by Earls on 21/8/2025, 8:08:53

Following up on the excellent LTST piece from the Wigan programme with the recruitment head: We can’t buy foreign players because we’re maxed out on work permits. Fair enough.
Does that mean that, if Nakamba or Chong left, we could go shopping abroad again? Or, because we bought them from English clubs, they don’t count to the quota?
On another note, while Sweet’s own programme notes were largely frustrating, at least 2020 are encouraging some transparency through articles like that.

I'm not certain but I don't think Chong or Nakamba count. My guess is two from Fanne and either Andersen, Makosso or Nordas:

Both players will be difficult to shift as both injured, no pre season or proof of current ability.
Choice for the club is to pay them off or keep them.
I understand that Nakamba is at the end of his career and has slowed down but at this level should be a usefull player.
Chong is only 25, should be an outstanding Div 1 player, if he cannot challenge for a starting place then his career is on a serious downward trend.
Both players could make a difference once fully fit.

Let's face it, we do have some moany bastards following our club.

But probably in line with real life, I do think since social media started people seem far less content and miserable.

As others have said The club will never please those negative types no matter what they say or do.

I am annoyingly positive, and find it difficult to understand those that tell you it's going to rain tomorrow when I say "It's a lovely day".
I can only think with my brain though.
