I think the Pboro game was the first time NJ played a back three and we got absolutely destroyed down the flanks in the first half.
Dud enough enough second half to at least get a point.
Strangely enough, after that game I knew we were good enough for that division. Beyond my wildest dreams that that we would win the bloody thing!

Not helped by some very dodgy refereeing by Graham Salisbury.
Jason Cummings scored two of their goals - the first a penalty given despite a clear foul on James Collins in the build-up.
A few minutes before half-time, he gave a penalty for a foul on Elliot Lee but, about three minutes later he changed it to a corner on the advice of his assistant and Fatty Evans.
NJ changed formation after the third goal but, by then, the damage was done and we went down to our only league defeat at London Road in the last 60 years.
Later that season, Salisbury's son Michael refereed us at Oxford in the "Dan Potts game", sending off Shandon Baptiste.

I thought the decision was more about not wanting to drop a centre-back as all three had excellent starts to the season.
Don't know about his Charlton formation but wouldn't bet against a pragmatic 4-5-1, particularly away from home.
His 0-0 away to Bristol was exactly what we needed when getting thumped away from home last season.

Choosing a formation to suit the players rather than choosing players to suit a formation - that sounds familiar.

Was more a case of he’d signed Bradley and Pearson but still wanted to find room for Sheehan too who was captain. Problem being that Pearson was totally ill-suited to being on the right of a back 3. Sounds oddly similar to Naismith and McGuinness. Jones had the courage to do what was best for the team, let’s see if Bloomfield does too.
