So far this season In the 4 games played I have not been convinced that we will do well this season, as proved with yesterday’s performance.
The problem over the last couple of years has been the board and filtered down.
The board has done its time and needs change. They were very good when we made our way up the leagues. Recruitment was good etc.
Since we have made some money they have been absolutely useless.
Unless the board is not changed which will not be anytime soon we will struggle.
I think we needed a strong manager not Mr nice guys like Edward’s and Bloomfield who say the right things all the time.
On the players side I see not much of an improvement in effort since last season. We have had one good half in 4 games.
Forget promotion this season it will not happen. Just like Insaid last season that we would struggle.
You're right of course. It's mainly frustration as we know we could and should be doing so much better. Anyway, I've had my piss and moan now. It wont change anything. Decent day with mates on the beers yesterday and that's the most important thing.
Yep we've overhauled the playing side and have a new management team but the lack of urgency, hunger, desire remains. If we don't get to the bottom of this we're in for a long hard season.
I just haven't a clue why we looked so careless and lacking in energy yesterday. It's infuriating and MB said as much too so hopefully has given the team a rocket or two. If it looks the same on Tuesday then I'm going to start losing my patience. Two wins from three hides the reality of our play.
What else can we do but edit and see what happens up til the window.
There are worrying signs, lack of creativity, lack of presence up front etc, and as seems to be a constant now lack of direction and decisiveness in the market.
Take for example the LWB situation Bell is released, Doughty bound to go, yet no replacement lined up, now Cohen Brammal might be the answer, but the fact he seemingly wasn’t a target til very recently, not even training here or on trial makes it seem like panic
The lack of creativity is quite alarming, we've hardly created a chance in 4 games, you'll never get promoted without plenty of goals. We have too many players on big money and are all injured. You can't sell or even give away injured players due to wage demands, this then makes it difficult to recruit and you end up with a bloated squad.
The wing back situation has been the one area I totally agree we’ve fucked up ever since we got promoted.
Getting Giles in, not giving him a chance, then binning him off and never signing a replacement.
Not replacing Kabore.
Signing Hashioka.
Not going in for Drameh last summer when he was on a free.
Waiting until doughty left before getting someone (someone who has been available since July). I know MB said we needed to wait until doughty left before signing a replacement, but we needed backup in that position anyway, so seemed totally mental to wait until he’s gone to get a free agent in with no pre season under his belt.
I think the rest of the recruitment has been decent. But we need to replace aasgard. No idea who is out there in the same bracket though.
Keillor - Dunn is a proven goalscorer at this level, but would require an outlay of a few million, I suspect; therefore, that potentially rules us out!
The other wildcard shout is Luke Berry; not featuring in the league at Charlton this season (albeit only 2 games). Would be a big upgrade on what we currently have.
Nail on head. Whatever anyone says Bramhall was a cheap and riskier option, he should be the back up to the full time LB/LWB.
Losing Bell and Alfie and replacing with just one player who was out of contract and had only been on a short term deal with Portsmouth raises a number of fair questions.

Sign replacements for our two best creative players and we’ll be fine. Why are we one of those clubs that sells quality players with no replacements lined up? We did it with Ogbene last summer and this summer with Aasgaard and Alfie… our forward stats in every game so far are dire.

You can not ask such pertinent and sensible questions on here as you will be accused of having an agenda against 2020 and wanting Sweet out.
Any well run club would do exactly what you suggest and this clearly illustrates why we have suffered successive relegations and have started another season with an unbalanced squad containing glaring gaps.
Is it just coincidence that since Jones left we appear to have gone for less vociferous Managers?
The claim that we didn’t know Doughty would leave is such wank. If we really didn’t know, it’s pisspoor management, as 99% of fans could have said Doughty would go this summer. Or, probably more likely, Bloomfield is saying that to let recruitment/2020 off the hook for not getting a replacement in. Why we haven’t got anyone in addition to Bramall is a mystery, but a lack of a proper LWB is a big problem.
