I get the whole experience / culture setting thing (though who knows if he is any good at that). But really he’s such an odd signing, as I said at the time. Struggled to get into the team at the end of last season and left out on the last day. Brought back (as captain!). Can only play in a 3 at the back system but we lack the following to make this work:

    - A RCB who can progress the ball forwards
    - Quality wing backs
    - A dominant defensive midfielder
    - A central target man style striker

It’s a symptom really of our decline as a club that such a one dimensional player who we moved on from years ago, and that maybe even MB doesn’t want / need is one of our main signings.

If we drop Naismith and play a back 4 we don’t have any full backs either really, but the front 6 would probably look better.

    It’s a mess.

If we are going to get promoted we will need to drop Naismith.

Mengi, Andersen, Makosso and big Nigel all better modern day centre backs.

Aside from Andersen they have the athleticism to carry the ball and underlap the wing back like Bell, Osho and Burke could.

Naismith far too slow to play LWB or LB.

I still think his best position for us is probably DCM. At least he can ping a pass unlike our poor man's Kevin Nicholls who seems incapable of doing anything other than passing sideways.

        It is isn’t it?

MB is so raw and inexperienced - he needed what NJ had, a really experienced head around him. Hart wasn’t it?!

Been saying it for years that GS needs to be away from football matters and a decent director of football brought in. The latest pickle is yet another reflection of a lack of strategy or trying a strategy but failing. Early days I know but early signs aren’t looking great.

Playing 3 at the back with me real WBs,, is our curse, but playing 3 with no pace, like yesterday is asking for it. We are so easy to play against with the line up yesterday. We look slow, predictable and create no chances. Our success this season is reliant on us signing 2 left sided players. Ali must be seething about yesterday.

Ali should be apologising for playing like a headless chicken so had to be subbed.

Yes, it's obviously that Shea should have been picked ahead of him in that position

Give over, he’s a forward asking to fill in at LWB, we could see last year he can’t defend. I hope we have a top LWB lined up after selling Alfie…

The first foul deserved a yellow. I haven't seen the second one again but my impression at the game was that it wasn't a foul and was a case of Bradford players and fans trying to pressure the referee, who was very week all afternoon, into sending him off.

                Maybe.

But if MB didn't want him, why make him captain?

It's absolutely mental that in a position we rely on so much, wing back, we only have one option on each side.
Jones is injured and Bramhall is getting up to speed.
Our back up options are a Walters who has looked shit at rwb, and a right footed center half at lwb or an attacker on either flank.
