Never thought I'd say this but we desperately need Chong back.

Him on the left, Alli on the right. Thank you!

      Not for me.

      His time here is done.

However, I would quite like the collective recruitment team to identify some players with more creativity than we currently have and who a club of our relative standing in this league has an ability to sign.

It is their fucking job, after all.

It all needs stripping back and that could take 3 windows to repair. It is so dispiriting

We need to decide how we want to play, what formation is preferred and what is our plan B, what type of footballer we need, what mix of personalities we need and recruit and coach to that end, Build an identity such as we had in the early part of this decade and on the climb up the leagues

Whatever we were doing between 2013 and 2022 - go back to that

Relegation last year will cost us years of progress. One of the worst failures in our history

Unfortunately I don't disagree with you.

I'm not sure a rookie manager is the right person to oversee that change though.

This is where I do think Matt has questions to answer.

A lot of that is on him, and not the recruitment team.

It's very early days yet, of course, so I don't want to write him off. But equally, he's had a full pre season and been here since January. I guess I was expecting a bit more on the pitch in terms of his identity. What he's all about. I'm not seeing that.

That could be working both ways

he might have asked for a list of players so he can implement his preferred style and identity and, for whatever reason, those signings have not materialised

Besides, there should be a structure and identity and culture in the club that doesn't rely on whoever happens to be manager at the time

Re: Never thought I'd say this but we desperately need Chong back.

                True.

Equally, the recruitment team might be kicking up loads of names and, for whatever reason, we're not able to get them over the line.

It's just not quite working, is it? And it's not a hiccup. It's been a problem for years.

And, unpopular opinion, this is where I dunno how our club actually operates. If Sweet is involved in the transfer side of things, who marks his homework? Why would he relinquish that power?

What so he can be stranded at wing back again? yeah triffic.....

            +1

He's a winger. He’s always been a winger. Yet not one fcking manager of ours will play him there. If his heads sorted he could rip this league apart.
