Chris Philp aka the bloody shadow foreign secretary

This is an actual post on X yesterday. Lunatics have actually taken over the example.

It is astonishing that Labour councillor Ricky Jones, who was caught on video calling for throats to be slit, is let off scot free - whereas Lucy Connolly got 31 months prison for posting something no worse.

The development of two tier justice is becoming increasingly alarming.

It cannot have been a question of uncertain evidence as Jones was on video clearly calling for violence.

The government must come forward with plans to ensure justice is handed out equally, regardless of the background or views of the perpetrator - but as far as I can see this Labour government seems to be quite happy with two tier justice.

The Shadow FS parroting far right conspiracy theories to try and seek attention like he’s always done. Madness. Actually questioning the legitimacy of a jury trial.

I haven’t sat through the evidence presented to the jury so wouldn’t want to comment. What I would say is that the judiciary, sometimes through jury trials, and not the state deciding people’s guilt is a fundamental cornerstone of our democracy, warts and all

For completeness, August 2024 - A Labour spokesman said: "This behaviour is completely unacceptable and it will not be tolerated."
"The councillor has been suspended from the party."

Snaresbrook Crown Court is local to Ricky Jones and the jury so there could be a case for an out of town trial - which might have been seen to be fairer by all. Same result might have been given, we'll never know. But it raises an issue as the Tory bloke said.

              No.

Nor did I believe the morons jailed for twitter crap should be sentenced like that.

The internet is full of morons and are impossible to encourage. I also believe over 500 folk who got arrested last sat is a farce.

              Yes or no, do you?

                No.

To answer your previous question about where the trial should have been - the (Claiton/Clacton reference was unecessary - it could have been anywhere. There is only one Crown Court which means it can sit anywhere in the country (usually at another Crown Court Centre but it doesn't have to be). There are procedures in place for either party to ask for an out of town trial - arguments are put, listened to and decided by the Judge taking into account the law including case law. If the law is not there then the Government may need to put it into place - it would be an interesting debate.

                  Name a neutral place?

                  Surrey?
                  Kent?
                  Bradford?

You’d have a 6 month trial to locate a so called neutral place.

                  It’s bollox.

On perhaps a slightly different tack, there's always been a tier justice system. In tbe same way there's always been a two tier education system, a two tier health care system, a two tier property market etc.

Why do these people who bang on about two tier think that this is anything new? In fact I don't seem recall those that are spouting such things having a problem with it when their preferred government was in power...
