A couple of days ago my eldest wanted the free glass that accompanies various multipacks of Strongbow. Being the responsible parent I bought a large multipack of the original cider and gained the free glass. Having been chilled for about 36 hours I've got to day I'm bitterly disappointed in it. It's very bland, lacking flavour, and too fizzy. Mind you, I've been spoiled by home brew scrumpy as well as Weston's delicious Old Rosie and Vintage ciders.Live justly, love mercy, perpetuate generosity, walk humbly.

Westons Vintage is my standard. Used to be Old Rosie when the big jars were available in Lidl but became too rough. When up north however in Consett find Old Rosie on draught in The Turf and Vintage (not 8.2%) in The Grey Horse. Why you get Herefordshire's best that far from home I've never understood.
Got a few bottles of Merrydown last week as a birthday present. 500ml glass not 2 litre plastic. Keeping for a later date at the moment. Blast from my youth.

Never tried Aspalls to ne honest but I do know if I want a decent cider I go for a quality Weston's cider. But certainly need to try Aspalls. I too enjoy Weston's cider, Weston's Vintage at 8.2% is restricted to one 500ml bottle! Otherwise journey into space! Strongbow is awful stuff.

First had Rattler at the beach bar on Fistral Beach. Had no idea of the strength of it. After four pints my legs gave way on the way back to the holiday cottage!
Lovely drink though....

i was introduced to Rattler when i did the Healy's Brewery tour while in Cornwall. After the tour a visit to the tasting section, OMG, it got quite messy. Mrs 63 was very under the weather and i tried all they had on test. some of it is excellent and some of it very sweet and not to my liking. But the cloudy rattler is very nice indeed and very much to my liking, i still drink it now at home and in bars if they have it. It is my drink of choice (not a session drink i might add)
