    Richard Kone to QPR confirmed

    Posted by Brko's Bicycle on 13/8/2025, 13:58:03

Fee likely a lot less than what we offered 7 months ago.

If they'd sold him to us they would have been a couple of million better off and we surely would have won the extra one point needed to stay up.

Very consequential decision, whoever blocked that sale!

Seem a bit odd that noises coming out of Wycombe (not our club) suggested we'd offered north of £6million and it was turned down.

Now we have an 'undisclosed' fee that's reportedly less than half that being touted.

I wouldn't be surprised if the fee isn't correct and the player only wanted to play in the championship (can't blame him for that)

But I wouldn't believe a word that came out of Wycombe, to be honest.

£2.75m plus add ons for the highest scorer and best young player in our division is a quality deal for QPR. I don't believe for one second we'd have matched that price. Fuck knows why we can't be in a position to challenge for those type of players given the profits we've made on transfers the last year or so*

*I do know but best not to say....

Wycombe fan here - you are not far wrong. Bloomfield was actually forced out by the new corporate muppets running our club, despite getting us to the autos. They told him from the summer on "you are not wanted" but did not want the fan pushback of sacking him, especially when he had made himself unsackable with performances.

No way would they have helped Bloomfield keep you up by selling Kone at any price, because they are passive-aggressive like that.

Might have had something to do with us taking their manager and the fact they were still in the promotion race that they didn't want to sell to us at the time.

Not when we first bid for him.

Didn't we bid well over his value by all accounts but they wouldn't sell. As they didn't win promotion and his contract his ending they've now had to sell for much less.

                  I mean, what the hell...?

Our recruitment is terrible. Huddersfield and Stockport able to sign decent players and we’ve got Nordas who cost us seven figures. They are a joke.

Nordas was obviously a poor signing.

But to claim we haven't signed any decent players is complete and utter bollocks.

The LWB situation is a glaring example of this.

We took a LWB who had been on a short term contract with Pompey and not had a pre-season and are told that he isn’t yet ready for 90 minutes.

Stockport take a player who had done a full pre-season with Burnley and he plays 150 minutes Saturday and then Tuesday, with two assists last night into the bargain.

A player we were supposedly after too….why did we end up with Bramhall? Yes he may be a decent player but we didn’t need to take the cheaper option.

And to answer MG’s point below, nobody is saying that the core of our squad isn’t decent and there have been some excellent additions, but it just feels like we could and should have done more to be the finished article.

Signing unfit players and players playing out of position when we have the means to not do that just seems daft.

For someone who pretends to be knowlegible you do talk some shit. We matched the offer for thr Burnley kid but HE chose to go to Stockport because he is young and it is much nearer home. When a club wants to buy a player its not like the computer game theres a lot of ducks to be lined in a row before it goes through.

I’d wait and see how we compare after 10 games. Hope we are ahead but think that might be wishful thinking given our strength in depth. I really want to be proved wrong!

There were a fair few dissenters when we tried to sign him last season for a good deal of money...
