    Bloomfield

Doing well with an unbalanced squad that still needs work

I still feel we need 2 specialist full backs/wing backs and a creative midfielder or 2

And, maybe, another wide or central forward although that's more of a nice to have

Get that right and I fancy us strongly

Interesting that those who moaned incessantly all summer about the club; Sweet, incoming players etc. have faded away. It must be frustrating for them that we've won a couple of games. It was ever thus.

Nope. Still here. 2 wins against piss poor opposition, only about 35 mins of reasonable football. There are clearly signs of improvement but if Temu Levy actually spent some money on the areas of the squad that even Stevie Wonder can see need improvements, we'd be in a far better place.

Yes lets splash millions because it guarantees good players who fit in like Giles and Chong.

I can't help but think our recruitment team have dropped the ball again. Doughty was always going to leave so that wouldn't have been a surprise. Isiah injury is shit but we've had a few weeks to respond. Walters has potential but is nowhere near wing-back level.

Midfield seems a bit hit and hope. Saville is a decent signing but is not particularly creative. Baptiste may be decent but can he put a run of games together. Fanne is purely potential at this stage, Walsh is Walsh and Clark is top quality at this level but his legs seem to be going.

Just seens there are lots of ifs, buts and maybes at the moment. I'm not advocating spending stupid money but I'd like to think we will be investing in these key positions before the window closes.

I think that is exactly what most are saying. We need more creativity from full/wing backs and midfield. Accepting the party line we wanted to build a team around Aasgaard and we had no option to sell him, it does seem strange we haven't yet replaced him (and before old hat misunderstands again, I am not advocating spending millions). Unless, we believe we have got to the bottom of Baptiste's injury problems? Even if we have, still think we would need cover unless Nelson is going to kick on?

That bloke from Rotherham can play that position too. But, of course, he's injured!

It's not one thing or another, though, is it? It's not a case of spending millions or nothing. There is an in-between

You're right to say that spending a few quid on those two, that you mention, were quite expensive mistakes by our recruitment team

But, just cos mistakes have been made, it doesn't mean we shouldn't spend money on the weak areas of the squad. And it is obvious that at full back/wing back (and in attacking midfield) we are not strong enough

Yeah, we signed a couple of duds. That means we should never spend a single penny ever again eh? Ffs.

                    Yep.

The way I see it is we have a manager who has, generally, proved that he can be trusted*. So, we should back him

*WBA aside but the players didn't help there either

Well, I've had my moans too. A double relegation from the Prem should never have happened

But we are where we are and seem to have a manager that knows what he's doing

The club needs to back Bloomfield to recruit quality in those positions I highlighted and we'll be top 2 I reckon

In the 2 league games we've only played reasonably well for 45 minutes, against 2 clubs who will struggle. On the plus side we can only improve, our defence is looking solid, and - of course - we can only beat what's in front of us. What I noticed at Peterborough was how positive our support really is. Feels like we're building connections again.

Yes, in defensive areas (midfield and at the back) we look good. But we can't spend a season just making do at full back/wing back and creating so little

Still suspect Bloomfield would like to go 4 at the back. Hence the need for proper full backs
