Can't see it was a closed fist from the video. The ref should know what was coming when a 5 foot 9 bloke marks a 6 foot 4 cb - blocking, two handed grappling, etc to stop the cb getting near the cross. Failure to do anything has consequences. It doesn’t look great for Makosso but maybe it’ll be given the benefit of the doubt as a “football incident”.
He reacted to a blatant push and obstruction. What will come of this is unknown. If the ref dealt with the wrestling that goes on in the box within the rules of the game, the incident wouldn't have happened. Refs are very lenient to what goes on in the box and very whistle-happy to anything that goes on outside the box. Consistency is what would improve this.
As that video appears to clearly indicate an incoming 3 game ban, do League Cup matches count as part of the suspension or are the bans competition specific?
If League Cup matches ARE included, immediately plead guilty so Christ misses tomorrow's game at Coventry ... which he probably would have done anyway.
