Wycombe poised for Kone bid Latest from Sky Sports' Ron Walker: Wycombe forward Richard Kone is expected to be the subject of a bid from a promotion-chasing Championship club this week after the Chairboys dropped their asking price. A number of clubs in the EFL and abroad, including Ligue 1, have had bids knocked back for the 22-year-old, but Wycombe are now willing to let their star striker go for a guaranteed fee of around £3m plus add-ons. It is understood they were previously seeking a deal worth at least £5.5m but have softened their stance with Kone in the final year of his contract. He was left out of the Wycombe squad for Saturday’s League One opener at Bradford with Wycombe boss Mike Dodds admitting the “financially quite lucrative” bids had been behind his absence.

By my count, we've 7 strikers on the books and we're clearly after another.
So 2 or 3 to leave before the end of the month, even if you account for Eli not being in the squad?

If the board wanted to make amends after the last 2 transfer windows and seasons this would go long way towards that. It's like they hoping to get a nibble from us.

Doubtful he would come to us now, or any other L1 club for that matter I suspect.

Is he that good?

A striker that has scored nearly 20 odd goals last season in league 1 I would suggest he is decent. Especially when we we're supposedly interested in the leagues top scorer kelman before he went Charlton. He is match ready aswell I would assume and we wouldn't have to wait for him to adapt like we're currently doing with nordas

Lot of money to spunk on a player who has had one good season.

Do you think we currently have a squad good enough to get us promoted ?

Not really considering how much we've earned in recent seasons plus this season's parachute payment.

Manager highly rates him. I don't see why we don't offer the money. Infact Wycombe probably gutted they didn't take the 7 million off us in January now they have potentially missed out on over 4 million in them not being promoted.
If any of the board members look on here which I suspect they do. Then hear me out.
Offer Wycombe the 3 million upfront then add another 2 million of we're promoted or another 4.5 million of we're champions and he finishes top scorer so all in the fee could reach up to 7.5 million quid or 5 million. I suspect we could even maybe near enough double his wage he is on now at wycombe.
Then we get shot of a few more players which isn't a problem even if we have to offer them out on loan with the hope clubs pay 100% wages.
Maybe I have been watching too much transfer centre on sky sports or listening to kavi solehol lol.

That assumes that we actually offered £7 million.

He’s going to Leicester - according to a work colleague who supports them.

Signing him over nordas may have got the extra goals we needed . But that's old new know. Don't need him
