Back in Jan 24 it was stated that the lease on the ground was up for renewal sometime end of this year. So last year he proposed a merger with Bedford Town, in principle it was agreed. But that now seems to have stalled, and Bedford FC appears to have restructured before competing in National League North after winning promotion. That leaves Real Bedford ( who also got promoted) and now in Bedford FCs league last year , in a tiny ground with no room for expansion. There’s his problem. I think the bigger picture is the investment that’s coming in soon from Universal, etc…. he’s making moves to be involved somehow, maybe a merger with the Rugby Club To me if he’s serious, is an eventual approach to the Mongs and some sort of Groundshare? Problem is , he’s not the sharpest tool in the box with comments he seems to revel in. He courts fame on a weekly basis, but the truth is he puts himself up as some do gooding local celebrity , but the reality is , he is total prick.
The 2 twins who invented Facebook, and then Zuckerberg stole the idea from them, are the money-men behind the club. They are both billionaires, it depends how much patience they have though.. thinks like planning permission for a stadium and all the hurdles 2020 had to jump through, not really sort of thing rich Yanks are used to having being put in their way.
The 2 best-supported sides in Beds in terms of numbers who go to games are Bedford T and Luton.
Obviously more people support Liverppol etc in Beds than they do Bedford Town. but those are the top 2 most attended clubs in Beds in terms of home games
He's now attempted to wind up both sets of fans, who are probably actually his biggest market for people going to his games when their team are away,
The actual team and management at RB is decent, Rob Sinclair comes across well and they have recruited well again. Plenty of ex-Luton players, Josh Allen is the latest.
Unfortunately though the abrasive attitude of PM will mean new fans won’t be attracted and hence undermines any success gained on the pitch.
Apparently he got upset when luton ladies made a tick-tock video last Xmas and one of the players held up a sign with hurty words about him on it.
When his lot played Luton Ladies at KR in the County Cup a few months after that he tweeted 'fuck Luton' pre-match and then he got upset cos the club reported him to the Beds FA, who charged him.
He doesn't seem to understand Luton Ladies are a separate entity to the men's club.
Probably excluded a few Bedford based Hatters from ever buying a cup of ‘Real coffee’ in his shop . Good bit of business from a local businessman trying to encourage customers back into town . Maybe he’ll have his private security people on the door and not allow Luton supporters in anyway (only on duty Saturdays in August during daylight hours when it’s pretty safe anyway )
It's all a clever publicity stunt. The publicity that he has got for his shop and his football club (and his ego) would have cost many times the £10k that it is costing him.
Seems like another 'Rushden & Diamonds'to be fair!!! I come from mid Beds originally and there is only one and will only be one 'Top Team or Elite Side' and that is Luton Town. The fanbase of Ampthill, Flitwick, Westoning, Toddington to mention a few is very Loyal to LTFC!!! 👊 On and those Twats from Bletchley can fxck off too!!! 👊👊👊
