      They've been around quite a while now actually. Often hear them before you see them. Had around 10 at once in the tree in my front garden last Christmas day morning.
      Lovely, but do wonder if they're pushing out indigenous species tho...I mean, when was the last time you saw a thrush?!

        12th Duke of Bedford loved parakeets...the ones you've seen are probably descendants.


        Of older parakeets, not the Duke himself obviously...

            Working in South Manchester, I first noticed trees full of them about 6 or 7 years ago. Quite a bizarre sight tbh.
            Some of the stories on line about where they originated from make for a decent read. They range from a student releasing a few into the wild to them being set free once a film they'd been brought in for had finished being made in the 50s.
