You can choose one position to strengthen the team

Posted by deeuu on 2/8/2025, 16:45:43

Pick an old player as the type of player

    Example

you might say a Ricky Hill type in midfield or Sol Davis type at left back.

    Who are you choosing?

Remember, they have to improve the team.

I’d just like to get to our preferred 11/ setup and give the players a run, which hasn’t happened for a fair while.

Ricky Hill is, without doubt, the best player I've seen in a luton shirt but after watching that shite last night, I doubt he could influence a 3rd division game nowadays.
Barkley could. But I'd go with Stacey and JJ tbh. They were a huge part of what we achieved a few years ago.

Yes, if the question is about what is missing right now - Stacey and JJ for me. Particularly JJ. If it wasn’t for the injury he got during his first appearance for England I’m sure he would have got more.

              Otherwise Ross Barkley.

              Or failing that KDH.

Was only think to myself this morning the year we stormed L1 we had Stacey one side and JJ the other, the rest his history.
Along with who I thought was brillian, Andrew Shinney.
Last night didn't give me much hope for this season, the one thing that worries me most just like last season we create nothing, so you won't score goals, therfore won't go up.
                Do hope I'm wrong!@

In fairness, there was no better sight that Stacey bombing down the wing.

Think you are being a little over critical, we are a work in practice.

Couple of trick away games, let’s see how they go.

Baptiste has to stay fit and if he does can play a big part in any success.

We played better against spurs. I do think we have some real talent in the team or to come into the team.

                      Regards your 2nd paragraph, perhaps.
To be fair, you've pulled my opinions a fair few times over the years, but unlike the drama queen's/simpletons on here, not dived in full of anger so happy to have a discussion with you.
I believe MB is the right choice but we were pathetically poor last night. No player(besides the defenders) seemed to know their jobs. It was like watching a mid/low level under 14s team at times.
The club had a real opportunity to get the fans back on board after last season by showing they meant business. They didn't.
Will their 'do it on the cheap' way work? Time will tell. But the transfer window and last night is all very underwhelming.
Hence my JJ and Stacey point. The counter attack we played in those days was a joy to watch, with those 2 being a massive part of it.

They were like a cheat code when they were both firing. Everyone knew how we played but could do nothing to stop it.

I think/hope the team we see in 4-6 weeks will be a bit different from last night. If not we are in for another painful season. Cautiously optimistic is about where I am.

Ross Barkley & Ricky Hill with Mick Harford up top wouldn't matter who else was in the team.
