Maybe its the Vietnamese sun getting to me but as much as it was laregly woeful last night, im relatively optimistic.

I dont think that will be our first 11 within the next 6 - 8 weeks. Mcguiness, Fanne to come in as well as Yates. New LB make us more balanced.

If we get Baptiste fit somehow, then our midfield is far "above the level" Id assume Fanne is fuming how his careers gone the last 12 months, he should be nowhere near league one.

It was terrible last night but with the two years weve just had, they will have to get some leeway.

    Things will get better.

    I hope.

Interested in why you say that about Fanne?

Plenty of ability/potential yes but Makosso joined with less fanfare or supposed transfer fee and has been arguably our best player.

Fanne needs a run in his favoured position to allow him to perform.

He does, and after Walsh's performance last night hopefully Fanne's in for Peterborough.

Fanne provides physicality without The occasional Walsh red mist

Only 2 things to be pleased about last night, we got 3 points and we signed a CF. We struggled to break down probably the weakest team in the division. Lot of work for MB to do.

They did have the best defence in League 2 last year.

Yes defensively they are no mugs.

Offensively they are the Rolls Royce of mugs judging from last night.

I agree overall that we shouldn't read too much into last night but it really wasn't good.

The midfield 'is far above the level' is what I thought before last night. However, the evidence doesn't bear that out.

Maybe it was just an off night but Walsh, Saville and Clark were caught in possession far to often and were bullied and outmuscled for most of the night.

I do wonder if that midfield trio is just far to lightweight at League One level.

Away from home we will be very lightweight with the 3 last night and don't think the options off the bench help. You need power in midfield and I just don't see that at the moment. MB may accept the trade off but I'm just not a fan of having 2 playmakers in Clark and Walsh.

We didn't really play with a midfield 3 for most of thr game. Clicker appeared to be playing on the right of the forward 3. He is never very convincing in that role and he needs to be playing as a number 8 in my view.

The midfield two of Walsh and Saville were poor but they were a bit over-run because of the way Wimbledon set up.

It doesn’t feel like L1 is necessarily about the ability, it’s more about the muscle.

Maybe that’s part of the reason why teams have struggled with the jump and why a pronounced gap has formed.

I thought Saville looked properly hogshit. Hopefully just an off day.

Agreed. Clark and Walsh in midfield doesn’t work - too similar and lightweight. Combinations which might work are:
                      Fanne, Saville, Clark
                      Fanne, Baptiste, Walsh
                      Baptiste, Saville, Clark
Also Richards could be exchanged for Fanne in those combinations against certain opposition or cup competitions.

Yep that midfield isn’t ever the answer, no pace/ power going forward so they become easy to snuff out. Walsh is squad player and will live on the bench, Clarke has lost his legs now so you’d expect a fit Baptiste to start ahead of him. Fanne is straight back in. Richard’s is sure to get game time now.

Norms like the game last night was a bit poor. Plain rice, hot sauce not hot and it was swimming in oil. First time in years I've not wolfed it down.
As for the game Baptiste changed it for me, agree this won't be the team in 3-4 games time. Cautiously optimistic about the season.
