Are you from Luton?
Posted by Round Green Hatter on 1/8/2025, 12:05:18
I'm Luton born and bred, although I got out a few years ago.
How many supporters do we have who are not from the town, have no connection to the area other than the club?
Always wonder how people end up being a Luton fan if the only exposure they had growing up was seeing us on tv?

Born in the L&D.
Raised in LU2.
Left Luton nearly 40 years ago but my folks still live in the same house.
Hemel... We were few and far between! Started going to Luton mid 70s...As a young kid would go to Chelsea then a mate of my Dads had a spare ticket for game at Kenilworth road, wasn't that bothered about going but hooked after that day.
Grew up in Tin Town, then Putteridge, before moving to Dunstable, at 13, when my parents split up.

Hockwell-Ring here. First game Luton 5 Notts County 3. There was no going back after that..
Strangest place I've ever found a Luton fan was in Berlin on my way to Poland to watch England in 97. First bar we walked into the landlord was a huge Luton fan. He'd watched the great escape against Citeh with his dad and was hooked apparently..

Grandparents moved to Luton during or just after WW2 and that's how it started for our family.
Myself, born in Dunstable.
First game 4-0 v Sheff Utd, Christmas '78 I think? Forever hooked from that point on.
Left for pastures new down in Oz in 2012 and completely missed our rise up the leagues.
Returned last year for 18 months and bore witness to the shitshow.
Heading back Down Under at start of September so will catch just a bit of this year.
Hopefully my absence will coincide with an upturn in fortunes as I started to think I was a curse.

Grandparents on my Mum's side were from Luton, never lived there myself. They moved to Dunstable just after WW2.
I've got a photo of my Great-Grandad in his full Army uniform, the day before the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII) visited Kenilworth Road for the presentation of new Colours to the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment.

Grew up in Wanstead, east London, West Ham area.
Supported Luton from 81, first game in 82
Liked the orange and white kit.
Only Luton supporter in my school, thankfully in the 80s we beat West Ham regularly

Dad is from Flitton and his Dad, Uncle, Grandad were all Luton fans too. When I started taking an interest in football in about 1989 it was Luton or nowhere
Grew up in Bletchley. Luton the closest thing to a league club, and my school had a few fellow Hatters. Arsenal was the main club for parental connections for us first-generation Milton Keynes kids. Neither my parents nor brother are into football. I do worry that, if I was 25 years younger, I might have been lured into following Franchise.
Born about a quarter of a mile from where the current Barnet ground is. Aged 2 I persuaded my parents that we should move to Luton where we lived until I was 16. 37 Stoneygate Road. Only ever go back for games, very sad to see how the town has changed.
Hopefully the new ground will bring about regeneration. Born and bred Lutonion too, don't live there, haven't for 25 years, such a different place that I remember as a lairy teen.

Mate of mine converted to Luton after seeing us at Old Trafford (he was a United fan) in the 80's and liking the shirt.
(Well, he won't have been converted by us winning there, or even scoring a goal!)
Proper, proper Manc but has followed Luton ever since, mostly away but sometimes gets down to the Lean-to of Dreams
The Manchester Hippy, to many on here and elsewhere!
Born and bred. Mother from Round Green. Been going since 1960s. Moved to Norfolk but still a regular. Veteran of many historic battles. Wear the badge with pride.
Yeah I currently live in Bournemouth (well Poole) and have done for the last 22 Years. HoweverI was born in Toddington (home birth) and from the age of 2 to 25 grew up/ lived in Westoning. Parents both Luton born and bred. Beresford Road and Hollybush Road!!!
Born in Birdsfoot Lane. Lived in Luton until I was 30 years old (1990) and then moved to Berlin for my job, where I stayed for 3 years. I then moved back to Luton, until 2016, when my job moved me to Reunion Island. Whilst there I posted as RunHat on here. In 2019 I moved to Prague and became Prague Hat here. Last year I moved to Beeston, Notts and became Beeston Hat. Yesterday I moved back to Luton. What's the new name to be? Retiring at the end of this month.
Born in location ave off of Toddington Road, 1960. Went Leagrave infants & juniors then Leyland until moved to Marsh Farm in 74 the went to lea nanor. 1st game Bradford November 66.
Born in Edgware and have always lived in North London. As my father had died in 1955 at the age of 34, my eldest brother took responsibility for our football education and decreed that we should support a team in every division. I chose Luton as my Div 2 side in the early 60's. By the mid 60's Luton were in Div 4 but we nearly got promoted and my excitement at that committed me to support Luton exclusively (I was 12 at the time). The next season I persuaded my eldest brother to take me to a game (January 1967 home to Barnsley) amd also discovered that there were a few boys at my school from St Albans and Harpenden who were also Luton fans. I spent my teenage years years supporting Luton with them from the Oak Road and have been a committed fan ever since.
And there's another Luton fan a few minutes away from me - born in Bedford but now married to a friend of my daughter, which is how we got to know each other. We often go to matches together - him with one of his two sons and me with one of my grandsons.
Also born in Edgware (Canons Park actually). Nobody in my family was interested in sport so as a kid in the 70s I followed Liverpool. But the two times I successfully nagged my dad to take me to football was to see Liverpool play at KR in the mid/late 80s. Once I could go myself I wasn't going to travel to Liverpool every other week, so I converted to Luton. Been a season ticket holder for 32 years now. Had Barnet then been where they are now, I might have ended up with them as I could have walked to the Hive in about 10 minutes from my house.
I've lived for many years quite close to Underhill, where of course Barnet used to play, but I was already a committed Luton fan by the time I moved to this area. My son (who wouldn't support Luton) now lives close to the Hive and sometimes takes his son there.
I was born and grew up in Dunstable. First game was Easter Saturday 1965 against Gillingham lost 2 nil.It was an awful season going to places like Scunthorpe and getting down 8 - 1.
First game was 1984. Man Utd beat us 5-0. Still remember the Bobbers and the roofless Kenilworth on the day. Remember going to Ranwals social club with my dad and brother first.
