To Stockport confirmed. Stockport and Huddersfield are certainly bringing in some quality signings.

      Stoke are shit.

I'm not in the least bit bothered about us failing to sign someone not good enough to play in that awful side.

Make matters worse Wycombe are looking to accept offers of 5 million for kone. Apparently preston jave offered 3 million.

Now if Bloomfield reckons he is the one to get us going again we have to go all out and sign him for the 5 million they want.

It’s a bit disheartening, unless we have a secret ready to be unveiled.

Really need the window to close so we know what we do or don’t have for sure.

We might have only been interested in a purchase agreement and not a loan which Stockport have secured. Stoke don’t want to sell one of their promising young talents.
Think the transfer market will hot up in August.

Think you are right with those first couple of sentences and hope you are right about the last one.
Obviously want to get off to a great start and it looks like we have a lot of winnable games. Hopefully it doesn’t paper over any cracks and we are then left wanting a striker when the more difficult games come along and the transfer window is shut.

If we were genuinely in for him and have lost out to Stockport, well, that's pretty disappointing

But I'm not completely convinced we were ever in for him

We have quality too. Apart from LWB, where we definitely need a signing, our back 7 or 8 looks pretty good. It's goals and creativity where I think we are lacking. I'd have hoped it would have been sorted by now but we I don't think we're a million miles away

Given that we've said we will only do loans with an option to buy, I suspect that's what ended any interest we may have had.

I don't care how many loans we have as long as it gets us back in the championship, even if they have to go back at the end of the season.

                  Agreed

Short term problems require short term solutions. Something we should have looked at in January as we were facing a short term problem then too

                    100% agreed.

Mick Harford said in a interview with Bedfordshire university that one of the issues with staying in the Premier was that we couldn't get enough loan signings.

We haven’t ever actually said that. Jones used to be not keen on loans at all. And we seemingly thought the only loan player worth signing last season was Josh fcuking Bowler. But I don’t think we’ve ever actually said we’d only loan to buy (which would be a quite ridiculous position to take). Happy to be proved wrong though.

It has certainly been said that we're not keen on developing players for other clubs although there have been a few over recent years where the opportunity to buy at the end of the loan was highly unlikely.

Absolutely no chance in signing KDH or CVC - but both were brilliant loan signings.

Fair enough, I thought I'd heard it in one of the press conferences. I don't think it would be a ridiculous position at all and it would kind of fit with our dislike of helping to develop players for other teams.

That said, I don't really agree with it myself.

Honestly not sure, it has been mentioned a few times and the loans we have done have fitted that.

I don't recall it being said recently.
It was definitely said by N.Jones at one point.

The last couple of years certainly haven't been that way with the likes of Kabore and that useless twat from Forest, Bowler?

Point being, if that's the clubs stance, great. Fair play. But it massively makes the field of loan opportunities smaller.

Yes, I can't find any mention of it anywhere except in a couple of posts on here. I thought it was something recent, not historic.

I can kind of see the point of it and I do think it should be our preference but not a rule because as you say, it would mean we couldn't go for a lot of the loans available.

Stockport finished 3rd last season and have recruited well. Think they’ll be our main threat together with Huddersfield and Bolton. I think Naismith could fill in at LWB for the Wimbledon game but defensively and in the middle of the park we look fine, especially if we get in another LWB. My only concern is attack, Alli and Wells apart. I’m not convinced Nordas is good enough to play the Morris role or Brown for that matter, when fit! We need a striker who can hold the ball up and be a physical threat to maximise the threat from Wells and/or Alli.
Think the fixtures have been relatively kind to us in August so we have a good chance to get a run going not just to install confidence in the squad and get the fans in a positive mood.

Naismith hasn't the pace to play LWB.

Our options are Lonwijk or Alli.

Bloomfield has said in an interview that Lonwijk can play at LWB but not as an attacking wingback in the Doughty mould.

Or maybe Kodua - he can play wing back, but I don't know whether he can play on the left.
