Fair play to Doughty

While the club’s handling of the transfer was obviously dismal, at least Doughty himself handled it well - decent statement thanking the fans, no obvious agitating for a move. As daft as his “We’re no way going down, not us” comments were last season, Doughty’s been classy. Good luck to him.
I though his farewell speech was very condescending: ".....and even the town where all you Hatters come and watch me every week". I've never been to a single game since "AD45" arrived to just watch him.
Don't wish him any ill-will, but I'm glad he's gone.
Yep, fair enough. I was surprised he didn't go sooner, he is well above L1 standard. Good on him getting a move to his childhood club as well (even if it is Millwall!).
His last season was his worst with us, but he was by no means alone in that. Still think we would have stayed up had he not missed three of the last few months of the season.
£3m a decent amount for him too. Good luck Alfie, hopefully see you next season!
£3m may well represent a figure that was put in his contract when he signed in January. We took a risk that if we stayed up, we'd be able to sell him for significantly more. Gamble failed.
Depends if that was part of him signing a new contract, a relegation release clause?.
Depsite recent criticism, GS normally is asture when it comes to sell on's. If Doughty has a good season and Millwall stay in the champ, then it's a fair bet someone else may come in for him at a higher price which we then benefit from.
No issue with him. Got a move back to a higher league and also to the club he and his family have supported for years. The latter must have been a big draw for the lad.
