Manager, in an interview, comments "unsure as to the severity of Mengi's injury!". Please can you tell me how MB can possibly manage if nobody tells him anything? Why do we have a medical team pray tell?

You clearly didn't read all of the article, or only the bits you wanted to read.
From the first scan they weren't sure of the seriousness. They'll do more scans to fully establish the extent of the injury.
I'm no medical expert but seems pretty plausible.

You have to wait for any swelling to go down before scans can take place. That can take a week or more in my experience!

It will be a strange one. Any longish term injury could scupper a move in this window. However, when fit I don't actually see that he would be a guaranteed starter
