Utterly avoidable.
Thing is , this isn't a new club owner who got a new plaything. Its a board of predominately fans.
Some things cant be helped - we got relegated (yeah that could have been but is what it is) - so our players will be picked off, sensible in terms of getting the high wage earners off the bill as well. And the undisclosed may be lower than last years undisclosed was.
Some things very definitely can be though - asking the LN to clarify Alfie had a knock (didn't stop him passing a medical though) and not releasing a statement until pics appeared on millwalls training ground spring to mind People at the club should have been way more savvy about that.
All for the club not saying anything until there is something to say - not for saying (or directing to be said) something that didnt need to be said and then rushing out a transfer confirmation when they had no choice.
If we start well and are free scoring i`m sure it will forgotten. If we don`t and haven`t spent money on a striker things could turn quite ugly quite quickly
I'm not at the point where the goodwill is going, so much has been achieved it would take a fair bit more than this to get there. But my frustration at the clubs inability to learn and improve. Ive run a comms agency for 20 years and I can say the club comms are woeful and the new head of commercial needs to start showing some signs of improvements, as he has inherited a mess.
You would 'assume' we already have Alfies replacement sorted and that with his fee we also get the lad from Aberdeen too. If that doesnt get done this window it's going to cause squad issues and make MBs job a lot harder.
The comms bit really isnt helping And its simply solved. I know its fashionable to bash GS , and yes he has a lot on his plate - but he probably should look at what his reaction would be if he was still in LLSC and the owners were suggesting to the media what they should be saying. Even gurney communicated "better" albeit a series of late night rambling bizarre releases - but he was saying something. GS should know better.
And yes that pesky striker is a major issue I appreciate its tricky to attract a 20 goal striker who can step up in l1 but we are a bit light there to say the least
You feel that GS maybe doesnt have someone on the board from the comms world challenging him a bit more. The only real visual updates on the new ground are by some member of the public and his drone!
I'd like to see us get a LWB, Left winger and striker - then MB can play 3 or 4 at the back formations well.
But he did have someone - Stephen Browne - who mysteriously left without any particular fanfare...maybe communication was the unresolvable difference between them?
"People like me" ? Its actually very rare i criticise. And yes I`ve just read it back the only part where i was "riled" was over two things today that there was no need for, and no benefit to.
Yes irrelevant in the grand scheme of things but you have to question especially what seems to have been a direction to the Luton news to "clarify" the reason for alfies absence. How on earth did that EVER seem like a good idea to anyone? Yeah everyone makes mistakes of course but this one has a lot of people questioning it. And the problem with that is that if there are repeats people start drawing the dots
I'm going to stay in my world, where I don't sweat the small stuff, you carry on getting in a sweat over trivial nonsense if that's what makes you happy. The journey leads you to the answers..
It doesn't behave like the club of 2008-2023 though, it reeks of incompetence, mismanagement and utter arrogance for the fans. No Billy Big Bollocks.... yeah right.
