You assumed this was a physical injury, but nowhere is that said. I read it at the time as being “he felt that he wasn’t able to, or didn’t want to, play”. Because he knew that he’d like the off to play for the club he supported.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not part of the anti 2020 or anti Sweet but why lie about Alfie D, why get the journalist to back track. Promises of better communication have fallen at the first hurdle. I do think Sweet has too much on his plate and should maybe to a course on delegation.

I just don't get it. I don't think I'm a happy clapper, I get pissed off with lots of things we do/don't do ......like the entirety of last season !!!! However, this man has been a key player in our greatest period since the 80s. A broke, ruined club to the PL. He has my full support , as does 2020 . With that comes the expectation that will make mistakes.

Saying Doughty had a minor injury to not reveal he was leaving before the deal was done is nothing to be upset about. Not getting rid of Edwards earlier and letting the club get relegated again on the other hand…
