Once again we are selling players for millions
Posted by Hatterchatter on 28/7/2025, 11:32:43
And spending fuck all, In addition we have £40 mill of parachute payments this season. If we can’t assemble a team to get us promoted out of division 3 with that kind of money the club is fucked. Our transfer policy over the last two years has been pathetic, we’ve never had so much in the bank and yet still want to get by with freebies.
Re: Once again we are selling players for millions
We also got 15m parachute payment from getting relegated from the championship as of last year under the new EFL deal. On top of our 30m from the final premier league parachute payment
Re: Once again we are selling players for millions
I thought they got a solidarity payment. I also read somewhere we would get an additional 15m from the new championship deal. However maybe it was false news, and miss information. Apologies if it is.
Re: Once again we are selling players for millions
From the LTST report on the meeting with the club's financial department.
Parachute Payments
The club confirmed that relegation to League One does not affect parachute payments. In 2024/25, the club received approximately £49 million; this will fall to £40 million in 2025/26. No payment will be due in 2026/27, as clubs relegated after one Premier League season only receive two years of payments. Overall, the financial impact of relegation is minimal.
Re: Once again we are selling players for millions
I didn’t really understand “the financial impact of relegation is minimal” point. I guess it depends on what you choose to include and not include. As our central funding certainly reduces, our control over our asserts reduces if there are relegation release clauses / players just don’t want to play in league 1, their perceived value reduces (partly due to the previous point). We’ll be on tv less. May save on wages, but I’m not sure I believe that the financial impact is ‘minimal’.
