    Tours

I have always wondered why the club hasn't thought about playing abroad during preseason.

Read in a article about Wrexham that they have reportedly earnt 30 million quid when on tour in Austrialia.

No way, we have enough injuries when the players are on holiday let alone on tour.

Going off on a tangent and coming soon-ish on Hatters' Heritage, we have done post season tours -
        Ireland 1953/54,
        Denmark 1955,
        Czechoslovakia, Romania & Bulgaria 1956,
        East Germany and Berlin 1957,
        Germany 1958,
        Czechoslovakia 1960.

            One game tour

            That's on the list too.

I'm sure that it's not a case of not having thought about it.

Obviously, they play abroad virtually every pre-season. Even ignoring the games that they play in Slovenia, it's only two years since we played in Germany.

I have seen us play PSFs in Bulgaria, Norway and Sweden.

The size of the squads and "back-up team" nowadays means that, unless you get some of sponsorship, a pre-season tour, would be a massive expense with very little return. We are unlikely to attract the sort of interest that a PL team or Wrexham would.

What sort of club abroad would find us attractive opposition. We are unlikely to be a crowd puller.

Looking at it from the opposite angle, how many would go to KR to watch a PSF against a third division team from Germany, Italy or Spain.

Both them and Birmingham have interest abroad because of their ownership
Luton. Not so much , you don’t need to wonder anymore

Quite a big difference between the number of Australians who want to watch Wrexham play, and the number who want to watch us I reckon.

Fair to say that Wrexham wouldn’t be going much further than Bangor and Aberystwyth for their preseason friendlies if it wasn’t for Ryan Reynolds and Netflix.

Is that right …Australians want to watch fucking Wrexham…it’s not like Ryan Reynolds is playing….

25,000+ New Zealand crowd watched Wellington Phoenix v Wrexham. Good night out, 1-0 win to Wellington.

Luton did tour New Zealand in about 1978 apparently.
