    Alfie Doughty - Bristol City

    Posted by Cam 2 on 27/7/2025, 13:29:50

Random one, but been told by a youth team player this morning that the reason he’s been left out of the squad is because of interest from Bristol City. They’ve moved quicker than Edwards’ Boro and are close to agreeing terms with him.

Should move early this coming week. Great player but we’ll be well rewarded financially.

Are they (or Millwall) really going to pay what he's worth?

Or are we going to sell cheap again this window.

Daily Mirror are now reporting that Millwall are negotiating a deal for him.

Massive hole on the left if he goes

Please tell me the members of the youth team are not still involved in player sales.

What next “according to an under 9 player!”

I couldn't give a shit. Its not like the undisclosed amount of money is going to he reinvested in the squad.
5 days before the start of the season and we lose one of our best players. That's poor.

It’s not as if we’ll do anything with the fcking money.

We’ll likely be runnng with a £12m+ transfer surplus by the time we kick off on Friday. Its an absolute farce.

If it gets to after the window and we’ve not got a left back nor a striker, I’ll absolutely agree it’s not good. But sides will want to sign cover before they let their players go.

Ipswich for example only have one other forward.

While that is true surely we have to think about Number 1 - i.e. us.

Ipswich won’t find it as easy to find value in the market because they are PL cash rich and have wealthy owners.

So Al-Hamadi probably plays for them on the 8th August, maybe he does well and then that option is gone.

I don’t like this “need to wait for others” excuse, let’s say we play the 7 games in August with zero striking additions? Also what happens if any of the “strikers” we do have gets injured.

Letting Harris go and not giving Lynch more of a chance does seem short sighted.

Perhaps Langstaff is part of the Millwall offer, that would work for me.

Then get Dodgson on loan for the season to replace Alfie.

Harris going on loan indicated to me we will be pretty positive we will sign someone.

The Burnley kid is rumoured to be the replacement for doughty.

Would be good to get both sorted in the next 48 hours.

Ideally any new faces should be embedded into training this week.

Although of course quite possible that someone like Dodgson has been training with us.

I’d agree with that, but Bloomfield stated post-match yesterday that no new signings are due before Wimbledon.
