I think the concern is that we have bought so many players now who we told are are young, raw, with great physical attributes and room to develop - without any really working out on the pitch for us.
Osho being the main exception - and I think McAtee could have been an asset.

They might not have worked out on the pitch but we probably made good money on several of them. Nombe was only on loan too.

I agree that we made good money from McAtee (who I'd have liked to have seen retained) and Taylor - but that not progress on the pitch, just progress financially.
We probably covered what we spent on Mendes Gomes.
Andd yes, Nombe was an obligation / intention to buy. He was still a gamble that didn't work.
According to https://x.com/LeagueOne25 (yeah, I know), Luton offered £2m. Unfortunately, Charlton can offer him Championship football. Nevertheless, our bid doesn't sound 'penny-pinching'.
