Reading the Ernie Simms story makes the current crop of nonresilient players look even worse to me

He had a limp for the rest of his life and played for England with it. When myself and the Club Historian went to Dallow Road school a few years ago to walk the pitch, the staff there said Ernie was on the curriculum and taught to the children. So many lessons - resilience, not giving up, doing what you can instead of blubbing what you can't do, no sense of entitlement and so on.

Maybe Power Court should have an Ernie Simms stand as well as a J. C. Lomax one.

Or perhaps a hologram of him running up and down the terraces.

Hatters' Heritage were asked by 2020 to provide names for PC and both Ernie and J.C. are on the list.
