Got to admit that the club are doing a really good job of getting players in to improve our chances foe this season.
Well done to all involved, and let's hope we will be promoted this season.' Live for today, not for tommorow '
I will agree once we get a striker in who is between 23 and 29 and looks like he could get at least 15 goals a season (and whose hamstrings are tougher than a 10 year old elastic band)
Money shouldn't be an issue I would not have thought unless they don't want to spend first without knowing that one or more of the above have gone and no longer forking out wages.
Maybe it's a case of waiting for Ipswich to get a replacement or two in for Delap befre they would allow Al-Hamidi to go, if we are in for him.
A bit of digging online - a committee paper to Parliament which states:
"Under SCMP (Salary Cost Management Protocol), Clubs in League One currently operate at a permitted spending threshold of 60% of Relevant Turnover (including Football League distributions, Premier League solidarity payments, match revenue and commercial net income) plus 100% of Football Fortune Income (including prize monies from cup competitions, League parachute income, net transfer income, donations, cash injections, equity injections and accumulated profit). League Two Clubs currently operate at a permitted spending threshold of 50% (reduced from the previous threshold of 55% with effect from the 2018/19 season) of Relevant Turnover plus 100% of Football Fortune Income. Player-related costs for players aged under 21 years at the start of the Season are excluded from the SCMP calculation.
I was the same as you and just assumed the parachute payments would be included in the revenue for FFP purposes.
When I looked into it further it appears the parachute payments is not considered revenue. I can't remember what site it was on but just had a quick Google and Chat GPT seems to bear that out.
Couldn't be arsed to look much further though.....
They do count. There have been some changes to the regulations since those that HH posted, but that was mainly to spread the allowance for equity injections over 2 years instead of 1.
Yeah, I didn't highlight all the relevant part of that quote but the rest of it says "plus 100% of Football Fortune Income (including prize monies from cup competitions, League parachute income, net transfer income, donations, cash injections, equity injections and accumulated profit)"
So parachute payments can be taken into account for the wages calculation, albeit as a football fortune income and not as relevant income? Unless the rules have change since 2019?
