Got to admit that the club are doing a really good job of getting players in to improve our chances foe this season.

Well done to all involved, and let's hope we will be promoted this season.

I will agree once we get a striker in who is between 23 and 29 and looks like he could get at least 15 goals a season (and whose hamstrings are tougher than a 10 year old elastic band)

It's a bit early for getting on the Jägerbombs, isn't it?

Twelve weeks since the WBA debacle, and not a single penny spent on a transfer fee for a striker yet, with an £8m transfer surplus.

Let's save the back slapping until the end of the window, shall we?

8 signings in 3-4 weeks is very impressive.

Money shouldn't be an issue I would not have thought unless they don't want to spend first without knowing that one or more of the above have gone and no longer forking out wages.

Maybe it's a case of waiting for Ipswich to get a replacement or two in for Delap befre they would allow Al-Hamidi to go, if we are in for him.

Why would it not take into account parachute money?

Sunderland didn't seem to have a problem with FFP when their accounts took into account parachute payments in League One.

I have to out my hands up and say I got it wrong. Parachute payments are not part of 'relevant revenue ' for FFP.

What is the point of them if they can't be used and taken account as a revenue source? It sort of defeats the point.

A bit of digging online - a committee paper to Parliament which states:

"Under SCMP (Salary Cost Management Protocol), Clubs in League One currently operate at a permitted spending threshold of 60% of Relevant Turnover (including Football League distributions, Premier League solidarity payments, match revenue and commercial net income) plus 100% of Football Fortune Income (including prize monies from cup competitions, League parachute income, net transfer income, donations, cash injections, equity injections and accumulated profit). League Two Clubs currently operate at a permitted spending threshold of 50% (reduced from the previous threshold of 55% with effect from the 2018/19 season) of Relevant Turnover plus 100% of Football Fortune Income. Player-related costs for players aged under 21 years at the start of the Season are excluded from the SCMP calculation.

                                https://committees.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/106148/html

Admittedly, that is from 2019. Have the rules been updated since?

I was the same as you and just assumed the parachute payments would be included in the revenue for FFP purposes.

When I looked into it further it appears the parachute payments is not considered revenue. I can't remember what site it was on but just had a quick Google and Chat GPT seems to bear that out.

Couldn't be arsed to look much further though.....

They do count. There have been some changes to the regulations since those that HH posted, but that was mainly to spread the allowance for equity injections over 2 years instead of 1.

It's bloody confusing. I've just read that a 'portion' of solidarity payments are counted as relevant revenue.

Solidarity payments don't include the parachute payments, they are separate I think.

Solidarity payments go to each EFL club to "support the pyramid".

                                      Re: Credit where iits due.

Yeah, I didn't highlight all the relevant part of that quote but the rest of it says "plus 100% of Football Fortune Income (including prize monies from cup competitions, League parachute income, net transfer income, donations, cash injections, equity injections and accumulated profit)"

So parachute payments can be taken into account for the wages calculation, albeit as a football fortune income and not as relevant income? Unless the rules have change since 2019?

Plus sign the player who name seems to get ridiculed but who I maintain would be superb backup in that position and would jump at the opportunity.

We can afford both. Why take risks in such a key position with Eli likely to be out all season?

Are you suggesting that any two from Rowe/Al-Hamadi, Wells, Brown and Cheek would not win the league at a canter?

Bearing in mind our injury record four strikers are very much what we need.

I simply can’t see any argument that Woodrow and Nordas will score sufficient goals in this league to allow us to compete.
