Two further takes on the striker situation

Posted by Cuba on 21/7/2025, 19:35:40

Not sure if these have noted below.

    1. If Huddersfield are taking May that may mean they know Lowe is going somewhere else.

    2. Someone below was questioning the dearth of scoring talent. There is a player in L2 who I have noted a few times who I think would score a hatful playing in our side.

As bbb said below, how we deal with the situation will define our season.

I am still hopeful but just wish we would sort it out PDQ to help build team cohesion and stop the bickering.

We have an excellent squad but it’s glaringly obvious that we must have a 15-20 goals a season player to take advantage of that.

can't argue with that. No doubt we fucked up at least 2 crucial transfer windows - January and August 2024 and need to get this one right. One hopes that the culture and mindset has been suitably chastened and that the "Luton only ever do things differently" nonsense is put to bed. If we want to be challenging the top 6 positions we will need some more goal scoring in the team - sick of listening to some of the "oh we will buy a 15 year old from the Irish league one for the future" bollocks on here

Of course we need to sign a "decent" striker. If we fail to do so then those responsible will deserve all the shit that is directed their way

        You literally could have written:

        1. If Huddersfield are taking May that may mean they know Lowe/Kone/Al Hamadi/Shearer/Ronaldo/Charlton is going somewhere else.

Would have been just as insightful.

I don't often agree with you but on a CF you are absolutely right.

I don't doubt we will pay the money, the amount we were prepared to pay for Kone proves that. Just hope we can get it across the line asap.

A L1 page on X this evening reporting we’re battling with Stockport for the Stoke player Nathan Lowe.

I don't believe for 1 minute we would be battling with the likes of Stockport for anyone.

Financially maybe not, but as good as our rise was Stockport have been on decent upward trajectory of late, whilst we have been a bit, well shit for 12 months.

(still shouldn't be a difficult decision if it did com down to two)

I think NW will get 15 at least in Div 3. He got 10 last year despite being in and out of the team.
I do think we still need another quality striker as Nordas and Woodrow are definitely not the answer.

It depends on what formation we are playing. Nordas showed nothing last season in his brief minutes to even suggest positional sense but he appears to have discovered that in pre season The fact we are looking at that motherwell winger suggests potentially a front 3 as an option (unless we are trying to crowbar them in as wingbacks)

                  Aberdeen not Motherwell.

And I am sorry what pre-season games have you been watching to make that statement re: Nordas.

The fact he is scoring and missing chances is a step up from last season when he was nowhere near doing either

But his strike rate this pre-season must still be far worse than Elijah's last season and that was shit!
