Underlines the point you (and I) made a few days ago (and features the Pev, too!)

      Thank you, an interesting article.
Didn't say but when in Sheffield I walked into the wimter gardens up from the station.
A city ambassador introduced themself and during our chat produced a map and recommended several things to do along with bus and tram details.
On these little things ones impressionns of a place are made.

PS think many moons ago you (or someone else on here) mentioned the Tap at the station.
Lovely place, did miss a train whilst enjoying it.

Sheffield Tap, one of the great on or near railway station pubs. See also: Vat & Fiddle, Nottingham; Great Western, Wolverhampton; Brickies, Luton; Wellington, Birmingham. Honourable mentions to Huddersfield, Carlisle, Hartlepool, Wigan, Reading, Derby, Newcastle, and of course loads in Manchester and London.*

*This is of course not a definitive list, feel free to add.

          King and Castle, Kidderminster.

And yes Kidderminster remains the greatest away fixture ever. Pre-match trip on the SVR, plenty of real ales at the King & Castle, a d the best food ever inside the ground - and we always win there!

As Farhat might tell you, it can be murder getting a train out of Kidderminster...

The food at Kidderminster is just your bog standard football ground stuff now unfortunately.
Think I read somewhere that the bloke who did it passed away.

You had to be in the ground daft early to get it anyway - always sold out. Very good I'm told though. (And yes, he has passed away).

That's right mate! I got the last shepherd's pie last time we were there. Plenty in the long queue behind me were not happy!

I remember that day so very clearly. JinC bought a round, Pogue was drinking pints of rum and port and black, TBC got chased out of the ground, after the game down the Gas Club, the coppers bemused by us and the Terriers singing "we all hate Leeds".....

                That was some day!

Asking that lovely female copper on the horse if she would arrest me too and her answering 'I suspect you would enjoy it too much sir'!

They looked after Pogue well really

                And the Gas Club.....well!

Haha, have missed many trains thanks to the Tap! Very likely I have mentioned/recommended it on here.

Brilliant about Sheffield ambassador. That's another lovely thing about the city: the people are so friendly, welcoming and down to earth.
