Tonight's coverage has been bit of a disgrace. At every opportunity the commenators have had a love-in with the Saudi royal family and have now interviewed Jake Paul.

Also constant references to all the celeb fans. This is the future of football......

DAZN is owned by the Saudi royal family, so it’s not that surprising. All part of sportswashing and their investment in DAZN, who then immediately saved FIFAs balls by rescuing the club World Cup before the Saudis were given the World Cup in 2032 is well publicised.

The Saudi royal family doesn't own DAZN.

Surj are owned by PIF (the people who own Newcastle). PIF are “controlled” by the “Government” of Saudi Arabia. The wealth fund is controlled by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He’s the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia.

Surj “invested” in dazn so that the money could be passed to fifa to save the club World Cup when they couldn’t raise the sponsorship or get a broadcast partner willing to pay what they needed. In return, Saudi Arabia got awarded the World Cup, and a chance to show the world what a great guy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is.

So, yes, it’s a minority stake. But it’s certainly not silent.
