    Fao Questioner

Posted by SAHB on 19/7/2025, 8:42:42

You ask below how cutting funding makes the rich get richer.

When there isn't enough money in the pot you have two choices, you cut back on spending or you find a way to increase revenue.

The Tories chose "Austerity" over taxation hitting the poorest and the weakest in our society.
Cutting back on all the services that are vital to the small groups that use them, rehab centres, day centres for the mentally ill, humiliating the disabled with means tests so and so on.
Which has lead to what the original thread was about, the distruction of our Town centres.

Would it not have been preferable to say "do you know what there are a lot of people doing rather well let's ask them if they wouldn't mind contributing a little bit more for the good of all".

They not only ignored that possibility but put things in place for the rich to get richer whilst lining their own pockets with all the scams during covid.

If you give the lowest earners more money they spend it, helping the economy. If you give the rich more they bank it and then fuck off to sun themselves somewhere else so they don't have to contribute to the country that gave them the opportunity to earn it in the first place.

I know how it works ….but like most lefties you have a one dimensional view which is proven time and time again not to work.
Let’s tax the rich some more so we can spend more on the public sector…..oh fuck the rich have all gone and now we have to tax every earner more to replace the 30% tax revenue we have lost.
But hey at least we don’t need to provide those 1000 people with any services.
It’s flawed and Starmer knows it but will probably allow Rachel from the tying pool to do it to appease the left.
Personally I could easily do 90 days in the UK….

          Probation system chronically underfunded
          Food banks now commonplace
          Higher Education funding crisis

          Childcare costs through the roof
Justice system considering trials without jury to clear the backlog
          Waterways filled literally with shit
Councils throughout the country on the verge of bankruptcy
Benefits cuts only withdrawn due to MP revolt
Cost of housing through the roof
Cost of degrees through the roof
          Violent crime rife amongst kids
          Youth services cut
Poorest 10 percent of UK taxed around 48%
Richest 10 percent of UK taxed around 39%

Do you have an answer to the growing level of poverty in this country?
Or is it as far as you are concerned, the poor can just fuck off, because they are an inconvenience.

Yes I do …. Get the finances right firstly which means making sure we don’t frighten away wealthy people who will contribute more to the tax coffers than @ 20m people.
When that’s fixed you can spend the money on those in society that need the most help.
It’s like your own household…get the main earner doing well and you can take care of the rest of the family.
The leftie bollox is because that’s how your argument is sounding and just for the record I believe in all the things you want as well…just think I different approach than we are currently following is likely to cause more harm than good.

You seem to be ignoring the fact that those who earn more automatically pay more tax. So why do they need to be asked if they wouldn't mind contributing more? Also wrong to say the working classes don't save, we certainly did in my family. My grandparents were dirt poor and they had a nest egg saved.

Are you not aware that high earners employ accountants to avoid tax? (I'd say evade, personally)

I know of someone earning a small fortune who regularly brags of paying no tax.

The only people who 'automatically' pay tax are probably those taxed through their employers.

Self employed people are not 'automatically taxed' but have to complete a return.

I agree, those on PAYE pay tax automatically, anyone who has to complete a return has the chance to avoid. I have a mate who doesn't make obscene money has plenty because he avoids tax by paying himself dividends etc

                          Yep.

The tax system is pretty well loaded with loopholes and there seems to be no will to change that.

Of course it is. All the big accounting firms embed their people in HMRC to be itk/influence new policies. Then they share this info to their bosses who then hire out consultants to advise companies of the new rules and how to circumnavigate them.

Billionaires have never had it so good. They're the only people in society who are continuously better off each year. Because they own virtually everything so no matter what service or good you buy most of that money spent works it's way back to them.

Gary Stevenson is right. Tax the assets of this country, which are worth about £12.5 trillion, so that it doesn't matter if the mega rich threaten to leave the UK. Their assets will still be here and can still be taxed.

And if you only target those with more than £10m worth of assets, that's the top 20,000 richest in the UK, you can pull in about £20bn in revenue off the back of a 2% tax on their wealth.

They are less than 1% of the population and they won't be affected by it. They'll still be obscenely rich and living lifestyles you and I will never experience.

They also push all the media narrative to brainwash regular people into believing taxing the rich is a bad idea. And it has worked for years but the cracks are starting to show thanks to relentless campaigners like Gary Stevenson.

Meanwhile politicians are too scared to face the elephant in the room. Unless we all pressure them to tax the mega rich they'll happily avoid the issue. Don't let them.

Most of the problems in society are due to lack of funding. There's not a lack of money to address those issues. There's just a massive con being played on the general public by the mega rich.

Also just to mention the Genius bill has just gone through in the States. This green lights all the big companies to start using their own digital currencies. So when you buy something from Amazon in the future you will have the option of using Amazon coin or whatever the fuck they end up calling it. They'll squeeze even more revenue out of each transaction. They'll be offering credit deals too, and caning it from the interest rates off that. They'll eat into the suppliers market even more pushing smaller companies out of business and will they pay tax like those smaller companies did? Will they fuck. And then they'll convince Joe public they're doing everyone a favour and it's a really bad idea to even think about taxing them. The coin eyed cunts.
