              I disagree. Smoking, fighting and fcuking require very little intellect and understanding. Restricting voting to those of an IQ higher than 100, possibly 110 would be much more sensible

                    You can legally smoke at any age in private, but you cannot buy them until 18. Also you can't be sent to fight at 16. Apart from that you're spot on.

                      I had no idea the smoking age had risen to 18! Thought it was still 16.

                      I've always thought that should 18 for those things. some study done years ago showed that the majority of 16 yr old boys that smoked was to increase the likelihood of attracting a sexual partner. To be fair the two seemed to go together at my school. 16 yr olds aren't worried about health in the mean 'cos they're fit and young . The way this country is going the legal age for sex will be 13 soon enough....

                        I always find it weird in this country you can legally have sex at 16 but cannot watch porn legally until you're 18.

                        Or, as it will soon be, you can vote for who you want to run the country yet be too young to hire a Lime scooter in London.
