No games on this day so why not watch Newcastle away 1973

I played football in Hitchin that day and after the game we were walking along the Bedford Road by the petrol station listening to a transistor radio when the reult came through - what a cheer went up. We drew our match 1 1.

Mr J.C. Lomax having been called upon to give his opinion upon the proposed formation of a Town Club, said he was most emphatically in favour of a proposed Luton Town Football Club - 11th April 1885

We may have the wrong date of birth for Carl Griffiths. We took the 15th July from the English Football Archive, but everywhere else, including Hugman, gives 16th of July. We can't find a definitive answer at the moment.

Shame about his CG injury, looked like he could get about 25-30 goals a season, especially with Valois ammunition!

How the hell did we land someone of Valois calibre for the league we were in??

Remember walking to that game against Torquay and quipping ‘Valois? Who’s he? Valueless more like’

Massive helpings of humble pie that day.

I like the story in Caroline Dunn's diary of the season. She had an interview with Mick Harford before the game and asked about Valois.

Mick laughed and said, "the French lad? Yeah, he's alright."

                Definitely the best I've witnessed.

Turned everybody inside out and scored from inside the exec boxes as I recall.

Talk about making an entrance. Incredible!

Not many keepers let in a hat trick of headers

Two other Luton links - Jason Rees played for them in the game, and David Preece was their Assistant Manager.
