    George Saville

From watching him on Saturday - and hearing him, you can catch every word in an almost empty ground - we've made one hell of a signing, no wonder Millwall fans aren't happy.

The man is a beast. He didn't give the opposition, the ref (or his team mates) a minute's peace. Obviously a friendly and not against a first class team, but just what we need - a proper leader.

    Great uncompromising tackling too.

Zack Nelson is going to be a massive 'break through' player this season too, and Baptiste will boss it if he stays fit.

Baptiste has never stayed fit for a season in his career yet. Worse pitches, more games would point towards the fact it would not be wise to put to much faith in him.

Think what you like mate, I'm looking forward with optimism. Spoke to him at the airport on Saturday night, and he is too.

Fair play, crumpsall, I’m with you on the excitement for Saville—he was a monster out there on Saturday, barking orders and crunching tackles like a proper leader. Millwall fans must be gutted to lose him. Nelson looks like he’s ready to tear it up too, no doubt. But on Baptiste, mate, I’m just looking at the track record. The bloke’s class when fit, but he’s never strung a full season together. League One’s a grind—dodgy pitches, packed schedule. Hoping he proves me wrong, but I’m not holding my breath for an injury-free miracle. Optimism’s great, but we’ll need a plan B if he’s in the physio room again. Still, let’s get behind the lads

Ahem, if you followed tradition then your observations obviously exclude the first ten minutes of each half

Seriously though, that's very reassuring about Saville and just what we've needed.

Nelson - I want to like him and can see there's talent there but he seems too lightweight for the positions she has played for us. Maybe further forward he could do a job.

Maybe he could do a job out wide for now?

I remember Arsenal sticking Henry out wide until he toughened up a bit.

*no, I'm not comparing Nelson with Henry🤣

I think MB played 4,2,3,1 at Wycombe so possibly Nelson in the 3 - Savile and Baptiste in the 2 giving him some freedom.

Sounds promising. I like what I saw with Nelson last season in bits. Perhaps the championship was a step to high at that stage of his career.
Did the young lad that talked up back end of last season play? Lynch was it?

I gave Zack a pep talk at Zagreb airport on Saturday night (our flight and team flight both delayed) so he knows exactly what to do this season.

Score a goal like that one against QPR every game. Simple.

Hard to keep up with all the changes but don't think Lynch came on. Several very promising looking youngsters: Harris, Roberts-Edema, Paternoster come to mind but there were others too.

Philips ready for first team I'd say, along with Nelson.

The trip was a bit of a mare for me travel wise (still not home, couldn't face more trains today) but an absolute blast.

Brilliant time, and unlike last season's preseason jaunt, didn't end up in hospital!

                  Ha!! Nice one.
And I thought my trip back from Heaton Park was bad!
Missed the last bus back to town so ended up walking. Taxis were trying to charge £60 to Piccadily. We walked for an hour or so then managed get an Uber to Stockport. Then a lift back home. Gig finished at 10.30, got home just after 2🤣

A doddle compared to mine! I'll tell you the lot next time I see you, but on a train from Cambridge to Stansted at 4.40am wasn't part of the original plan...

Hope the gig was as good as your hopes? Reviews I've seen very positive. They should really have go transport sorted by now, they've had enough practice!

Yeah, even better than I could have imagined. To watch it with my 2 boys was amazing. They loved it!

The gig itself was organised superbly. As was transport up there before hand.

Unfortunately, like Knebworth a few years back, post gig smacks of 'we've had your money, now fuck off and deal with getting home yourself!'

Tram always looked like a shite option, and thought taxis would be busy so we parked in Whitefield. Half hour/40 min walk back after the gig and back on the motorway within 10 mins.

I know a few people that live Liverpool way that got home easier than me. Seems the further away you live, easier it was to get home!!

Was absolutely fucked after the gig mate! Sat in the sun from 3-6 then standing from then until the end. Not sure how my mate managed to drive back.

We did walk past people coming out a gate so we probably did go out the wrong was as well
