    Football Governance Bill passed

    Fair Game statement:

"Today’s overwhelming 415 to 98 vote in favour of the Football Governance Bill marks a historic step forward for our National Game.

"This is a victory for fairness, sustainability, and the future of football. It’s a testament to the tireless work of Fair Game clubs who have stood up, spoken out, and demanded better.

"Their commitment to doing the right thing has helped drive this change – and now, at long last, we are firmly on the path to a fairer future for football."

Genuine question, do you think it will actually make any difference. Money always talks in the end.

Genuine answer too Ted: not enough.

Came out of both the Fair Game and Football Supporters Association conferences with very little faith that much can be done

Maybe if the Premier League splits away.

Have been involved in small ways; FG however has a Trust board member on its board and we had a stromg presence at their conference. A member of the club board attended too.

People like to moan about various aspects of 2020 but the club's sustainable model is much respected (despite last season's disaster!)

I think the majority of supporters are very pleased we have a sustainable model…..sadly not sure it counters the shit show of last season at this moment in time.
Get back up straight away and hopefully it will be just a bad dream.

Reading this board (hardly a great example) plenty seem to understand that it's more important.

Whilst, quite rightly of course - and I agree - wondering how on earth that shitshow came to pass. It certainly wasn't all about expenditure.

No I agree …GS has done fantastically well with contracts …last year he/they misjudged to many things. If we had stayed up (which we nearly did ) things would look very different now.

I still absolutely cannot get my head around that West Brom performance.

I think the late winner against Coventry and the euphoria after had everyone including players thinking we had survived.

Yep. The performance at WBA, looked like the players thought all they had to do was turn up and they'd win. It was in keeping with Doughtys comments a few months earlier.
Which is why I'm glad to see the clear out that is currently happening.

Despite all my moaning and groaning, I do 100% believe we have owners that give a shit unlike many others.
Are they perfect no but do they deep down have the clubs best interests absolutely yes.
I think it's inevitable that the so called big 6 will try and breakaway again. They'll blame money redistribution on not winning the Champions league and the new modern fan will believe it, then before they realise the club will be gone.

Global 'fans' yes, but (to use an absolutely awful phrase) 'heritage fans' will largely despise it I'd imagine. Though not sure, to be honest - Cit-eh fans, for instance, have been sickeningly quick to shed any sense of morality.

Let's hope they all fuck off sharpish. Even if it takes loads of money out the pyramid let's face it, they gave most clubs peanuts anyway.

After the 'New Deal' for the EFL from the PL, in depth analysis showed that the vast majority of clubs were actually getting less, not more

Yet the league sold its soul for it and with Sky calling the shots (sorry not the PL, they brokered it) we are now paying the price with altered and shitty kick off times and dates at their whim.

Since i-follow the infrastructure is surely there for all games to be televised now in all 4 divisions. And if so the argument exists that all games might as well be televised. This would enable games to be played as per the dates and times of the fixtures when they are first released. Yes it would mean football can only be watched on Saturdays and Tuesdays or Wednesdays for the most part. But so fucking what. It would solve the problem of games being moved all over the place and at short notice. Overall it would benefit the fans. The Sky circus can still rock up to whichever fixtures are the juiciest, with there in game interviews with subbed off players and their 15 million TV angles and their royal court of over paid shit ex footballer pundits. But I know I know, it will never happen...

BECAUSE IT MAKES TOO MUCH FUCKING SENSE

It's only a matter of time before the 3 o'clock Saturday ban gets lifted. Its the only way Sky etc can compete with the firestick generation when it comes to football.
