CAPTAIN

Where is he? And who is in charge these days on the field?

we have not really had a proper captain since TL. Morris clearly was no captain and anyway he was mile away from the defence which needed organising. The goal keeper was as quiet as a church mouse and appeared to shit himself when having to step off his goal line anyway. We need a big intimidating defensive player to do that role like virtually every other club. We don't always have to do things differently to prove we are special etc etc

Yep, we need some horrible bastards up for the battle.
Saville should fit the bill there whilst still being able to express 'polite encouragement' to the rest of the team. 'I say chums, would you mind pulling your finger out? Thanks awfully.'
I reckon Naismith or McGuiness for captain.

As last season's captain has left the club I think you'll find he's at Derby.

Nailed on to be Saville

You think?
I'd say McGuiness.

I'd say Mcguinness consistently failed to show evidence of leadership qualities last season

No body did. But I thought he really stepped up last quarter of the season.

I thought Naismith!
All three of them captain material, which is an excellent thing.
Re: CAPTAIN

Yep. Something severely lacking last year was leadership on the pitch. Naismith is an obvious answer, and a very good signing but he hasn't played regularly the last couple of seasons and I think a captain should be on the pitch at all times(if possible)

Whilst I agree with your sentiments I am surprised you are so forgiving on Naismith who left us for more money and ( can’t remember exactly what he said ) a better Manager ?
Re: CAPTAIN

He's left for better money throughout his career amd gave a great interview here so what he said about the Bristol City manager (can't remember who?) doesn't matter to me.
He's a good, committed player who is perfect for the situation we find ourselves in

It doesn’t matter to me but many on here never forgive a player or manager for leaving ….forgetting imo that it’s a job not a hobby.
Hmm do you think our manager agrees with your last sentence as he left him out of the most crucial game of the season?

Nigel Pearson

Now out of the game with a debilitating condition I see
Re: CAPTAIN

Agreed. Leadership was significantly absent last season.

Did Naismith actually say that about the manager or was it just BS from their media dept?
Re: CAPTAIN
Posted by crumpsall on 8/7/2025, 17:46:16, in reply to "Re: CAPTAIN" MIB
What he actually said...
'We've got one of the best managers, if not the best manager in the league, who has done absolutely everything in the game, an absolutely amazing coach.'
Which is not an unfair comment about Pearson's career. Maybe.
