The problem is our team and squad will be completely different to a year ago, even to last season. Unrecognisable. It takes time for individuals to find their feet, and for the collective to be effective. We will be very fortunate if it happens at all, let alone fast. The bigger problem is that context causes expectation, £36m this coming season in parachute payments vs the L1 average annual TV income of £1.8m. It's a difficult situation for all.

Even when Sunderland were in total disarray after their two consecutive delegations, they still made the play off final the next season. Swindon and Wolves won the league. Top 6 is the absolute bare minimum expectation-wise. I’d be disappointed if we didn’t finish top 2.

Slightly concerning to see that circa 53% of respondents are “fine” if we don’t get automatically promoted???

Short term memories and forget the endless years of failure under Lennie and the agony of the failed Conference years.

We have a massive advantage, we have to use it.

Once you get stuck in these leagues it gets increasingly more difficult to get promotion.
