Just checking

I'm surely not the only person who can remember Thelo being lightweight, inconsistent, yet to actually impose himself on a game, etc, etc...
That was the consensus, right? I mean, I liked him but thought there was more to come from him.
Is just everything a trigger to piss and moan?

I'm not sure about lightweight, I didn't see him lose many physical battles. Agree he could be inconsistent and drift out of games but his quality on the ball was clear.
Anyone doubt his quality, just watch the highlights of the Bristol C game, with his movement, touch and final pass to Alli which resulted in the sending off.
Very few players at Championship level are capable of that. I suspect he will be an absolute star at Rangers and get a move to a Prem club next season.

Agreed. Most attacking mids drift in and out of games. He is strong enough and has that quality on the ball.
I don't buy cubas argument that he's too slow or one footed.

Aasgaard leaving after 6 months has more than anything brought home the reality of what back to back relegations mean, so hardly a surprise that many of us are not cartwheeling in delight

I agree with you re performance however my pissing and moaning is that he is young , looks like he was improving and in our current financial position we should be able to hold on to the players we want and he clearly comes into that category.

You are (for once!) 100% correct. It's probably the manner of his departure more than his departure that's boiling so much piss

Fair assessment. The Scottish 'giants' obviously needed someone to replace Todd Cantwell in that department.

Reminds me of Todd Cantwell ex Norwich who is now at Blackburn. He played a season or so for Rangers and scored 13 goals. England U27 and U21. Very much drifted in and out of games I saw him play in Scotland.

Massive potential and natural ability but a bit of a throw back as a strolling number 10. A luxury in the modern running game. With good coaching he could turn into a very good deeper central midfielder a la late-era Barkley but I didn't see him put in that kind of shift in any of his 17 games with us.

Well yes, and as stated in posts below, decent but not in the class we have seen even in the fairly recent past at this level.
Very one footed and flatters to deceive.
As Simon Oxley has written on X this evening:
“Sorry but I’m not losing sleep over this. Didn’t do enough to make me think he must stay…”
If we can invest this money wisely, as we clearly have in Richards already, I don’t see a problem.
We are a LB (Doughty or other) and two forwards short of being in contention and probably another creative player short of being top two.
Keep Saville and Kal fit and we will do very well.
I think Simon is a brilliant commentator, but he is wrong on this one.
He was partly the reason why we almost got out of the mire in the second half of the season.
He has a high ceiling. Yes, he probably lacked some consistency, but he's still learning his game. Many, including myself, on here believe that he has the potential to be playing in the Premier League in the next 3 years.
Honestly, I think this is incredibly bad business from us. We were clearly threatened with relegation in January - to agree to a relegation release fee that was exactly the same as to what we paid for someone who became a key player for us quickly, is really disappointing.
The player and his international manager have not helped either. Rumour has it, he moved out of his Luton home base weeks ago?

MB says he wouldn't have signed if we didn't have the relegation clause in his contract. It's quite simple
So, we wouldn't have had him at all.
I don't understand why people are getting so angry about this.

Because they haven't got a clue what they are talking about sadlyLegend
I feel for the club on this one, what if the relegation clause was the only way of getting him to sign in January? Surely worth the punt knowing if you do go down, you won't lose money on him?
Maybe. But we take all the risk. It's only upside for Aasgaard.
We shell out £3M+ on a player who can just leave for the same in 6 months.

Why did we take all the risk?
If he kept us up, he had paid for himself and we still had him. If we went down, we got our money back (plus, if reports from Scotland are to be believed,a small profit plus potential add-ons).
Need a few decent signings in the other way now. Preferably this week to change the mood.

To be totally frank, he is the only "big sum" signing we are likely to just about break even on.
Leaving before he even had the chance to unpack all his bags says more about the player than the club

That was my thoughts.
He’d go missing for large chunks.
Obs he’d probably stand out in div 1 but I’m not that bothered.
Who he gets replaced with does bother me.

Exactly as I saw it. I was attendant at a few games from late January onwards - my only standout memory of him was hitting the bar after a neat sidestep against Sheffield United. Other than that, average.

I had a long conversation about him with a Wigan fan at the FSA conference. We both thought he looked good (is good) but very, very predictable. His cut inside and then trying to get at goal is something every defender and every manager will see and plan for. It'll come off every now and then but easily nullified.
So, not happy to see him go, but not unhappy either.
And a move was always going to happen once his international manager stuck his snout it (that's something I really don't care for)
