Concerned

Not being one to panic usually, I am getting concerned that good players (Kaminski, probably Aasgaard too) are departing and as of this time there are very few incomings so far and very little speculation on others. The board through their dithering on the manager and poor recruitment last season from start to finish cost us a relegation, they must not be allowed to do the same again this year. I have the utmost respect for their efforts and the results we have seen over the past 10-15 years but, the club must come first and cannot be allowed to stagnate and ultimately decline, which is what appears to be the case at this moment in time. I appreciate we are in the process of building a fantastic new home for the club but, it will not do us any good to have a 25 thousand seat stadium in div 2 or the bloody conference! Mr Sweet and all members of the board, we want to see our club on the up again please, you have put a lot of work in up to this point in time but, don’t cock it all up now by being slow to act and miserly, please! COYH!

Very good article, at long last someone who’s in the real world, and hasn’t got their head up their backside. Cue abuse

That was always going to be the way this summer.
After relegation it's obvious that a lot of the better players will leave. That means we need to wait to see which positions are in greatest need and how much money we have to play with once we know who's left.
Other than full back there's no position in the squad in urgent/obvious need of upgrades UNTIL we know who's left.
We could spend money on a goalkeeper to replace Kaminski... Or we could wait to see if Alli/Aasgaard/Chong/Adebayo all follow Morris out of the door, in which case we might need to spend that money on several forwards and make do with Shea and Walton.
It's an especially tricky transfer window because of our pathetic self-inflicted position.

After disastrous season we just had a rebuild is much needed, which whether we like it or not means getting rid of players who aren’t in Bloomfield plans. Most of those have the quality to play at Championship or higher but for some reason they didn’t show it for us. I thought that most of our support agreed a rebuild was needed and that we don’t make hasty decisions bringing in players who aren’t fit or don’t suit our style of play. Of the players who might be off only Assgaard is one I’d hoped we would keep. I’m sure our recruitment team have a list of potential signings and while it’s frustrating waiting I fully expect us to make signings sooner rather than later.

I really hope we're not waiting to see who leaves before we decide what gaps we need to fill. We really need to be proactive, identifying targets and going after them.
It seems to me that the manager and the Board should already have a pretty good idea of who is likely to leave and who is likely to stay. I would've expected them to have already had grown up conversations with the players. I appreciate the fact that bids may come in for players at any point in the window but I don't really believe that MB doesn't have any idea who is likely to still be here in a month's time.

Agreed it's tricky but we've got buckets of cash to put us ahead of anyone else in Div 3. I'm not saying blow it all but we must be in pole position to sign the best crop of players at this level. A few grand a month extra to get the right person through the door will not break the bank.
