    Squad as it stands

Posted by Earls on 3/7/2025, 7:00:51

Everything points to Doughty, Chong and Mengi going. Hopefully we can keep Alli (and Fanne).
Maths alone says we need Lewis or Dodgson and Rowe(or another striker) plus two more in.
To those saying July 1 would be the key date: that’s working out well. We’ve got some good options in defence and centre-mid, but that’s it. If Alli does go, we’re fucked as there are no goals there without him. There’s little creativity either, bar Jones.
I think Walters will come good, maybe even Nordas. I like Bloomfield, but he’s traditionally a slow starter, especially if we’re “waiting for bargains” again. Current prediction: 8th-10th.

    Goalkeeper: Walton, Shea

Defence: Lewis/Dodgson, Naismith, Andersen, Makosso, McGuinness, Holmes, Burke, Walters

Midfield: Clark, Walsh, Saville, Jones, Nakamba, Baptiste

Attack: Alli, Nordas, Pepple, Rowe?, Fuckingbrown, Fuckingwoodrow

Youngsters in addition: Johnson, Fanne, Nelson, Lynch

I think the problem that we face is that it's difficult to bring players in before we know who's staying or leaving.

I'm sure there's players that we want to keep (Aasgard,Alli etc) but it may be out of our control and players that we want to move on but no takers.

Frankly it's a horrible position to be in and those expecting a raft of incoming's in the next week will be sorely disappointed.

Another fcuked up season then. Mid table at best. What a fcuking mess all round. At this rate we'll have more sponsors than players

I think this could be our toughest window for a long time. Fuck it up and yeah, midtable at best.

The Board and Recruitment team need to pull off a few blinders over the next month to salvage this season.

It’d help if he gets new players in early. That isn’t happening.

You’re doubtless right. But I’d hope there’d be some safe gambling within that: “We’ll definitely lose Mengi for £x, so let’s get Him in for £y.”

Mengi may not have any takers (or at least clubs he thinks appropriate)~, similarly Chong. Doughty is as certain as can be, just get it done

id not be gutted if mengi stayed, actually think there is a class player in there.

i know he will be on rockstar wages and deaire etc etc.

It was only a year ago people were wanging on about him being a future England captain!

If he doesn’t go he’ll need to knuckle down and get back to how he played last in his first season, as he’ll want to get a move in January or next summer
