    Nathan Lowe

More rumours again on X about this potential signing. Deal being discussed this week apparently?! The only rumour I can find on any possible incomings.🫩

The source of that rumour is an account called TC9 . In January they said we were 'set' to announce the signing of Richard Kone. I wouldn't pay any attention.

If he's as promising as it seems; why are they selling him for £2.5m ?

The line can't be 'He must be shit if they're selling him' when we're finally linked to a few players!

This could be tied in with Asgaard who Stoke want.
Best scenario would be if he has to play Championship football to continue in Norway squad we loan him out as part of deal and hopefully he returns after promotion if we get it.

They have consistently thrown crazy wages at players since the Hollywood stuff started.

I always had a soft spot for them (friends there, old established club) but I'd now like to see them crash and burn to be honest.

I wonder what happens when Disney get bored in a few years and it requires the owners to put a significant amount of money in each year to keep it afloat?

A divorce or a very expensive legal bill from his wife to settle and I wonder if someone gets bored very quickly.

They got £13m from sponsorship and outside sources last season. That's a heck of a lot of cash for League One......

The circles the owners mix in, there will probably be plenty of other multi millionaires happy to throw money at it now they've seen the attention being involved in a football club can bring.

But, somehow, I still want them to fail and crash

Correct, it really isn’t a fairytale in anyway shape or form.

Paddy Power and their advert some time back was absolutely spot on.

Well it depends how you look at it. If you were a Wrexham fan for the last, say 40+ years you haven't really had much to shout about bar a 3rd round fa cup giant killing against Arsenal when arsenal were top of div1 and Wrexham bottom of division 4. As long as you knew that there was genuine community involvement, which does appear to be the case in Wrexham, you are probably relishing the current investment. After all doesn't this model sit slap bang in the middle of right wing ideology of getting off your proverbial arse and trying to do something to improve your immediate circumstances?

Whilst I get what you're saying and agree to an extent, the problem nowadays is, with the vast sums of money at the top of the game, if you want to have that hope of a smaller club trying to mix it with the big boys you probably need some sort of sugar daddy.

Whilst you might think Brentford, and BHA, or even us, to a lesser extent as we only had 1 season in the PL, they have still spent vast sums compared to the likes of Rochdale, Colchester, Grimsby, Port Vale etc. to name just some random lower league sides.

Without hope and dreams, what is the point? And until the current bubble and financial model bursts, I don't have a major problem with the sugar daddy approach within limitations. What really annoyed me in the 80s was Liverpool buying up anyone and everyone who was half decent.

You really haven't thought this through Godders. Wrexham have completely skewed the transfer/wages maket in each division they've been in since the Americans arrived and their spending bears no resemblance to their income or probable future income.

It is a totally unsustainable (and unsporting) model, and presumably they will eventually be slowed down by the financial fair play regulations unless (like so many overseas owners) they find a way to circumvent them.

I agree it's unsustainable. But my main point is that if you aspire to climb the pyramid, unless you've got someone to pump shed loads of cash at it, it's becoming increasingly difficult to compete/realise your dreams - even if they'll prove hard to sustain longer term.

We didn't stay did we. Some say it's precisely because we didn't splash the cash. Others say it was our injuries. Others still that RE was to blame. Probably some other onions too. It's all very well having a flash in the pan but to consistently challenge takes significant investment, considerable nous, and probably a bit of good fortune too.
