Moneyball

Have a feeling our recruitment is gonna be a bit more stats based this season even if players are in their 30s like the first 2 signings.
BTW what a movie moneyball is. I know its about baseball but it seems quite similar to how we used to operate as a small budgeted club against other clubs with bigger playing budgets and bigger and better facilities. Maybe we should get back to being like that getting players in who wanna bust a gut and not just collect a big paycheck

Something which Billy Beane and the Oakland A's discovered was that these analytics-based edges that can be found quickly vanish when it is seen to show a competitive advantage. And this will be seen in English football. Sunderland have shown that you can succeed with a young team and those players can be sold on for big profits. But now everyone knows that top young talent is undervalued and that will drive up the price and scarcity of these players, diminishing the competitive edge. Do Luton zag when everyone else is zigging? Are older players now cheaper and so provide better value?

As much as I think he's a good player, I'm not sure Kal was a stats based signing.
