I used to work for the same accountancy firm in Bedford (MacIntyre Hudson) as Peter Phillips. Prolific scorer for the reserves but couldn't repeat it when he was promoted to the first team.

Did well when he went to Cambridge Utd though (with Alan Guild I recall)

There were four of our players who joined Cambridge at that time. John Collins and Jack Bannister as well as those two, I think.

Correct Outsider. Strange how we must be the only team to sign and sell 4 players to the same team in the same transaction and at the same time (Close season in the Summer of 1970). Jimmy Ryan, Don Givens, Ken Goodeve and Matt(?) Woods.

It was Peter, not Matt, Woods who came with the other 3 players I mentioned from Man Utd.

I love these little nuggets. Thanks for your, and everyone else's, comments about the players and games. We still have a lot of other work to do on the website but perhaps we should have a section of fans memories of players attached to their profiles. Sensible ones only not Barnes-Homer esque ones
