Gone for £31 million to B. Dortmond. Absolutely mental fee. Probably worth about £6 million if it wasn’t for his brother.

What I find interesting is that, despite some of our so called stars apparently coping the hump they they didn't get moves to the premier league last year, was their actually a single bid for any of them? What I mean is, we see this today, we see Delap to Chelsea, but there wasn't really a single premier league team willing to spend cash on a single on of our players after relegation. Ogbene aside of course, and Barkley, who was never staying.
How do you know players copped the hump.? Seems to be an assumption by a few without any proof. Also do you know if we turned down any offers from Premier teams?
What kind of fool would follow signs that were never there.
I don't. That's why I added the word apparently. Whether they had or not, basically none of our players are/were anywhere near as good as they might think they were. Because if they were, they wouldn't still be playing for us would they?
My point is, how do you know they thought they were too good for us? and didn't play well because they had the hump? What kind of fool would follow signs that were never there.
Didn't Sweet hint at something in one of his interviews around the time Edwards left?

Sweet mentioned about Edwards having to deal with personal stuff and the results on pitch weren't helping.
Interestingly Carlton morris came out after the west brom game i think and mentioned about himself and hinted at others having their own struggles this season gone.
I don't know if certain players got too big for their boots and were sulking it is definitely possible, but there are so many who make comments on here assuming they had the hump and gave up.
Surely if you want a big club to come in for you, you try your best.
I think from what players said after Edwards left a lot of the players didn't know what their role was, and didn't believe in the systems they were playing.
As Always people will believe what they want. What kind of fool would follow signs that were never there.
No proof of course. But my suspicion is new players coming in on more money than the players that got us to the premier league. I can’t recall ever hearing of any bids turned down for our players , and although the club are usually quite good at keeping this sort of stuff quiet I’m sure someone somewhere would have leaked it out
I'm doubting myself now tbh!! I have a vague recollection.
I think most jump to the conclusion that certain players weren't completely up for it because, on paper at least, we shouldn't have been bottom 3.
Also, the players we signed on our Rise up through the leagues seemed to REALLY give a shit. We had leaders in the side that put their bodies on the line. There was a lack of that last season.
That said, alot moan about Morris but I thought he gave 110% last season, it just didn't happen for him.

Its a good point. I do think that for a few seasons the players played above themselves nearly every game. It's why, with one of the lowest budgets in the division we were able to get to the play-offs over two seasons.
It would be almost impossible to keep that level of intensity up and I think that's what we saw last season. Not necessarily players not trying, simply a drop off from previous standards.
100% agree with your point on Morris. He was one of the few that gave everything, every game.
Agree with most of that, definitely missed leaders, a few Lockyears would have helped.
Agree on Morris too. always put a shift in, he was asked to do too much donkey work, MB got him playing more in the box where he should have been all season. . Let's hope he stays and is given decent service he can be the 20 goal player we need. What kind of fool would follow signs that were never there.

Was it because they didn't get a move to the Premier, or was it because we were playing shit.
So many experts on body language and players psychology maybe a few should try being the players therapists.
No one really knows what the players are thinking. There were many who accused Mengi of not being bothered, then found out he had played through an injury which in my eyes showed he was up for it, but others said he was being selfish and that he only played on because he wanted a move.
Don't add up.
My thinking is he came back too early and shouldn't of played the last few games. CBs are a liability if they are not 100% fit where as forwards can get away with it a bit. What kind of fool would follow signs that were never there.

Are you crazy? £6m? He is probably worth £25m. He is pure quality and from what I've seen will be every bit as good as his brother. He is only 19. We reportedly spent close to £5m on Mcguinness What kind of fool would follow signs that were never there.

Think our new recruitment team need to find out if there are any more brothers, cousins or second cousins with the Bellingham name. Lucrative business 😁

For someone that has said on numerous occasions he doesn't want to be compared to his brother, its a strange choice. That said, Sunderland will be back in the championship 12 months from now.
Totally agree mate. He had several German clubs after him I read. It's just his comments a few months ago about not wanting to be compared to his brother, yet that's exactly what will happen now!

Er, 20 versus 32 this September probably explains the bit you appear to be missing.

I was criticised that some our "big players " Doughty, Kaminski etc may go for 5 mill, Bellinghmas price displays the madness in football, we may get 10 mill for either...mad shit
